For the first time in close to two weeks, I drew table 17 as my start in the line-up. SWEET! That means I was going to deal mainly $30-60 and lower limit holdem, one $20-40 stud game, $10-20NLH and lower…the part of the poker playing public that comprises most of the poker world and the most fun people to deal to – with the least ATTITUDE! Behind the noise
“I’m going to have to punch you…or get punched…it could happen that way,” by Sam Farha as he’s facing a $18,000 raise in PLO from Brian Townsend. It appeared that Sam was going to raise to defend his $3000 live blind – he called instead. Continue reading Behind the noise
Moving Forward
Card Player has made a big move in resolving the issues that I wrote about yesterday. You can catch Tony G.’s blog for an update. It’s refreshing to find there are still ethics in the business world. Continue reading Moving Forward
King of the Hill
I came home from work this a.m. to be faced with an absolute that I find to be quite vexing. I’ve read Tony G.’s blog post and you should too. A year ago I attended my first WSOP sessions with a media pass. It was pretty sweet to be able to move around and through the roped off areas and view the tournaments up close instead of standing behind the ropes and craning to try and see the action. Continue reading King of the Hill
Dreams…er…ahhh…nightmares
I was having one of those stress dreams when I finally slipped back into Sand Woman Land, early a.m. for the rest of the USA, late night for me. I was late for work. I found myself parking in a garage that attached to a giant building that appeared to have way too many floors and somehow the corridor I took ended up in a small bar and knew I was lost. I grabbed my cell phone and called my supervisor to tell them I’d be there in just a few minutes and YIKES!!! I looked down to see that I was wearing my uniform shirt (which goes down just below my tush) but wasn’t wearing a skirt or pants although I did have shoes. That was about the time my real phone rang and I pulled myself out of the coma to answer it. Continue reading Dreams…er…ahhh…nightmares
What I thought I would get done
I didn’t. What I still want to do before I sleep won’t get done either. My time stress has turned into a total blown out, ugly looking fracture. Bellagio has its name tattooed down my back and on my forehead, I ain’t going nowhere but the dealer’s box and when I crawl out of that after an eight hour shift, I don’t believe there are any electrical impulses going on in my brain. The room has been a real screamer and it just keeps filling up. On Friday night we were still starting games at 1 a.m. Kee-rist! I’m crawling. Continue reading What I thought I would get done
What would you like to do?
$5-10NLH, my first game of the night, Rico was in the 1s. We met at the tables about two months ago, in exactly the same role – he was playing, I was dealing. When I sat down several players were being shuffled out of the game to a main game and several more were coming in. I announced, “$6 for time please,” and chips started sailing out onto the greenfelt. Rico had $15 out and told me the change was mine. SWEET! Continue reading What would you like to do?
“HEY! I’m a pro!”
“Great dealer, Linda!” from Aaron Katz as I brought in a new set-up in Bobby’s Room, spread the deck, checked it, and prepared to deal $2-4 Mixed. Continue reading “HEY! I’m a pro!”
Just sounding off
I have pondered this more than once. Time to flesh it out here. A poker game is always going to be a bit of a strange mixture of events, happening simultaneously, filled with a lot of emotion. Not only is the mechanical side of the game a bit complex at times – because of rules and different games being played at different limits (sometimes at the same table in mixed games) – there are certain things that have to happen in order for poker to be the game it should be.
