Hearts and flowers

Another Valentine’s Day is about to close the chapter on making your BF/GF or mate or mom or dad or kid or someone out there feel special. How did it go? I’ve been single for so long I can’t help but wonder what the fuss is all about. If you love someone, want to be with them, want to make them happy, then it should be a project for 365 days of the year.

So…Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you that feel it is ‘that special day’ and may it bring you great memories over the years. Just in case you’re late in finding a gift, check out the 911 Gift Baskets. You can always blame the lateness of the gift on shipping. Tee hee!

But let’s get to some poker. The Stratosphere (Las Vegas) has launched a free online poker website. I am going to give it a whirl. Right now the prizes are “show tickets and thrill rides at the Stratosphere and free hotel stays at American Casino & Entertainment casinos. Besides its Las Vegas properties, the company operates the Aquarius casino in Laughlin.”

This kid would never take a spin on a thrill ride, it’s the motion sickness thang. But it sounds like fun anyway and hey…let’s play some online poker.

The state of Nevada is supposedly gearing up to get me back in action in online poker…they know I’m live and can make the games if I can only get online and play cash. That’s a bit of a stretch but it sounds fun. So…just when I thought NV was a shoe-in and online poker would be on my desktop, with a database of players from New Jersey and Delaware and possibly other states, I’m now reading that the Nevada Internet gaming bill that was introduced in the Assembly is asking to double the licensing fees and regulate who can come into the state as a provider.

Doubling the fees would go like this: “the license fee increase, which would rise to $1 million from $500,000, could jeopardize the legislation. The bill also would increase the renewal fee to $500,000 from $250,000.” LVRJ source.

NV governor Sandoval is working to remove the greed factor from the bill and get it working. Go GOV!

The weekend is a four-day holiday for Riot’s school and he’ll be hanging with me. Tomorrow’s a run into Vegas to pick him up and won’t return him to momparental until Tuesday afternoon. It will be some kind of fun I’m thinking.

A couple of days of hiking in the desert were good, the sun was out, the breeze was gentle, and my fat dog and I are losing weight. Can you say svelte? Me neither but it sure sounds good on paper.
