How old is that saying? What type of strength does it refer to? Physical, as in the king of the jungle eats first? Health, as in you have to have the heart of a lion to be able to withstand all the cholesterol and grease in the American diet plan? Mental, as in no matter how painful life is you have to get up every day and search for a brighter tomorrow? I missed a few but I’m done with the question and answer period for now.
I admit I’m struggling with a few things right now, yeah, they’re the type of things that you just don’t air in public…even if it’s a blog in cyberspace there are still people that know you and it’s best to leave some things unsaid.
I had to make a trip into Vegas on Wednesday last week and meet someone at the Bellagio Business Services office for paperwork that had to be notarized. I got there a bit early and decided to take a stroll to the poker room. It looked just like I remember it, new faces in places – including the front brush podium – but a lot of the same – including players in higher limit games that I swear were sitting in the same seats when I left four years ago. *sigh*
I passed dealers that were coming in off of break and stayed incognito with my hat and head down pretty much. None of them were my good friends that I would hug and exchange news with but some of them I definitely worked with and remembered.
I escaped, back to the long hallway past the shops and pool to the business services area. I really thought about taking my camera before I left the house and then after hitting the road, remembered that I forgot it! DOH! So iPhone pictures it is of what little I got of the gardens…have to admit the smell and the way the air feels is one helluva great experience, especially after coming in from the heat outside and the stuffy, hot elevator.
No idea what the theme is unless it’s an eclectic panorama about the US, it’s extremely disjointed in presentation and I didn’t try to find a sign that explained it. There was also a glass birdhouse that had exotic birds parrots in it which I photographed but didn’t upload since you could barely see the parrots.
I think I read somewhere that MGM is going to building a Ferris wheel but I’m not sure if it’s this one. And that Caesars is building ‘the Ling’ – be sure to look at all 4 pictures, the artist’s rendering is fun.
The following is totally ugly IMHO and the whole scene looks out of place like out of some strangeness, the twilight zone has arrived and these ugly colored birds are standing around at the base of dead tree – I think it’s a dead tree.
I have to get out more, this might be Smokey the Bear, but…
Right by Mr. Bear’s feet is a pond filled with poker players Koi and it just seemed so out of place.
This is quite beautiful, flowers form the picture, inspired by a famous artist I believe but hell if I know which one.
I probably shouldn’t be allowed out in public anymore. I really never had a lot of bow and scrape to fit with society and I have a lot less of it now after living in the sticks.
I had a huge urge to go down to the fine city of Pahrump last week and land a seat in a live poker game at the Silver Nugget…but it finely abated until the desire was gone. Perhaps soon I will venture out to the wild and wooly poker games out here. I did place once, about two years ago. I think I blogged it.
I’ve played the Funstep SNG coupon on Carbon Poker and some of their daily freerolls that pay cash. The Hack turned me on to them and we’ve both played off and on. It’s not quite the same, not like the days before Friday 15th, but it is kinda fun.
Ps-s-s-st! But of all the pictures above from the zillion dollar casino on the Las Vegas Strip, I like this one the best, taken out of the back of my property in the harsh environment I call home.
See ya!
Glad to see you on your feet fighting the good fight. Keep going, Kiddo. Back tracking to Burlingtons hitting gMa. It sounds like he is growing wise, if not physically larger. Fatalistic also, from the sounds of it.
Worry the knots, Linda. They’ll come loose.
