WaKe UP, LINDA!

Wish it were so.  I can’t seem to stay awake as of late.  Did life just kinda catch up one day and I went into snooze land?  Maybe stress from pre-trip got to me?  I can’t figure it but I know I have the worst time keeping my head clear and my thoughts focused lately and napping just sounds like the thing to do.  Of course you never get jack done if you’re napping…other than catching up on sleep and when you crank out of z-z-z-z land, everything’s setting there staring you in the face.  The eternal treadmill never slows down…not even for lazy butts like me.  For three or four weeks I couldn’t sleep longer than about four to five hours a night and seldom managed a nap, now I can’t stay awake longer than three or four hours without feeling like I need one even if I had extended sleep just a short time ago.  AGHHHH!!

Notice how all the other bloggers, Clearspine, Billy, and Glenda, all got kewl new interfaces for their pages with their avatar up on it?  Not me!  Damn!  Maybe tonight while I’m snuggled up in z-z-z-z-z land.

It’s windy hot here in the desert.  The nights are turning to chill so nicely that some nights my windows are open – if the neighbors and their dogs are in quiet mode, which is very seldom ever.  Sometimes at 3 a.m. the music starts blaring from their place and cars are pulling in and out.  It looks like a used car lot now with a travel trailer parked to the side/back of the house and anywhere from three to 10 cars at a time in the front.

Tomorrow is a Vegas day for me, back to the dentist…more evil tooth tales but I’m not sure what there is to tell anymore.  It’s still bothering me, not as bad, but still noticeably irritating most of the time.  Possibly it’s finally settling into place and just a bit of grinding on the back will take it out of my line of bite.  If Dracula had the same problem I’ve had, he would’ve starved to death.

I found some seeds from a Joshua tree at the Red Rock Canyon Overlook about a year ago when I stopped there on my way through, they’ve been in dry storage ever since.  I stuffed them – along with some seeds from a Yellow Bird of Paradise – in gro-plugs about a week ago and put them in one of those lasagne pans from Walmart that have the high, clear plastic tops (single use thingys).  I cut a couple of holes in the top for ventilation and watering and left them on the counter for a few days and then took them outside, nesting them underneath the edge of the coach so they got very little sun but plenty of light.  Not to worry, the wind blew the hell out of the pan and tossed it out the backside of the coach.  Of course nothing in it was damaged because the top was firmly seated and it just bounced the plugs around.  I had a pattern for which seeds were which, that went by the wayside after the wind had its way with the pan.

A few of them have popped; one I already moved to a bigger potting bucket with cactus potting mix.  The other one will go in tomorrow sometime.  I think the Joshua Trees are the ones that have sprouted but will have to wait to make sure.  Once they are established they are going somewhere on the property.  I’ve always wanted a Joshua Tree and I really like the Yellow Bird of Paradise too.  It’s even more fun when you start them yourself.  🙂

Contemplating a nap or just going outside in the late afternoon heat and walking around and starting my watering chores for the vines and pampas grass…contemplating…contemplating…
