Unreal Lucille

The wind has stopped.  Totally, completely, not even a sniff of a breeze.  OMG!  I’m in the eye of the hurricane!

It’s 8pm now and around 6pm it went to a low whispering breeze.  I raced out to the gray landscape to finish planting my last three vines.  All five are in place and I’m feeling comforted by tilling the earth, planting, and the feel of the potting soil as I step it gently down around the root ball.  Life is good!  The potting soil smells like cow poop to a degree but it’s nicely mingled with the dirt which makes it all better.  This earth is no easy shovel but it releases some aggression and anxiety…thinking I’m going to bury the Card Fairy helped a tad.

Very little changes in the land of poker.  I played three tournaments today, held pocket 9s and ran into pocket 5s in a five way action, everybody all-in hand.  We both flopped a set.  I had him covered and managed to pull out a few chips but not much.  It’s ugly.  I busted out a bit later, can’t even remember the hand but it was another little work of art.  I’ve stopped trying to remember the hands or even ask for hand history now because I don’t want to think about them or focus on them.  I thought that might have been a flaw in my game…my brain game…keep remembering beats and then you compound them by making them a focal point.  So I quit even trying to remember them.

The last tournament I busted out of, I really question that call from the player that took me out of action.  We were still in the rebuy period, I was on the button with A-10 and called (I think the blinds were at $50-$100), the BB raised it – again, I can’t remember the amount, I think it was to $500.  Four players in front of me jumped in, so did I.  The flop brought 10-8-6, everyone checked to me and I chunked for over $2K all-in.  The BB called – he had around $8K in chips and showed A-K off.  He caught a King on the river.  I gave up my seat.  It sucks that he got me with a 3 card out, but on top of that I wonder how he could feel A-K could possibly be the best hand at that point or even close.  After watching his play, I’m really not sure I understand poker at all.  Maybe I should stick to planting vines.

But I will be at the PokerWorks HORSE tourney tomorrow night, Sunday the 5th, and you should be there too.
