Crawling out of the computer quagmire

I’ve made headway…managed to do a complete system recovery, after wiping out the entire hard drive and starting over, back to winXP. It’s my favorite operating system. So…why???

Because I’m a power computer user. I add and use a lot of different programs including graphics, etc. I multi-task – a lot – and every time you add a new software program, it brings in some new little bunch of garble and addons with it and surfing the web and installing (naw…not porn dummy) programs like win.zip, skype, etc., they all bring their little messes with them. Pretty soon the system starts slowing down, then faltering now and then. Every year and a half to two years, I have to reformat and start over or decide if it’s time to upgrade to a new system. I was having pc problems. I did not want to reformat. *Brainstorm* Let’s try Vista. WTF!

Vista cranked everything into a mess, including lock ups, blocking programs, blocking drivers, etc. I checked microsoft and Fujitsu and other places for updates, checked FAQ’s, thought about a big hammer and a glass of wine, and finally gave up as I backed up things – yes, I do backups pretty regularly. But then there’s the problem of finding all of it and putting it all back together in the house that Linda multi-tasks in…time consumption. Where is that damn wine?

My system is up and running, I’m just picking up the pieces and trying to put it all back together again. Finally got email after arguing with Hughes.net – they control direcway now – and had to have two lengthy conversations with someone that really doesn’t speak English…(where do these people come from?) And then two phone calls with Motostat, but that’s OK, I got a real person at Motostat. Very helpful and user friendly. We exchanged websites. This is Robert. After three or so hours on the phone, and quite a bit of frustration, I got email. Whoopee! Only problem is I don’t have my address book loaded and haven’t imported anything. Perhaps another day.

I’m out, dragging ass, more later.
