While dealing a $2-5NLH game, the 1s was having a little prissy fit over everything and anything. He was snarling when I got in the game and it didn’t change during my down. BTW, he was much too young to be a snarler. He complained a lot about his cards and seemed to have a visiting relationship with the 10s; anyway he kept leaning around me to talk to the 10s. Ouchin’ and grouchin’
I’ve spent some of the most miserable days of my life in the last few days. At least I quit singing in the Thetford. I gave up coffee on Sunday. How possible? I love coffee. I gave up wine about four months ago. I wonder…
But I expect to awaken today, full of energy and good cheer, and return to my duties as poker dealer. I have fun things to write about, and a few pictures to put up too. That will happen today when I jump up full of energy. Now I am still on the mend and Sand Woman Land is calling.
Sick
But this time physically and not in the head…some of it was in my head as I woke up to a headache that would kill a rock. In turn, all the gory details are that I was dizzy (motion sickness thing and dizziness just don’t bode well with me) and had to spend considerable time hugging the Thetford (that’s toilet talk in RV language). *BTW – this isn’t about tipping*
It’s about leaving the game from the dealer’s box, and although tipping is mentioned, it’s not the meat of what’s going on. When I leave a game, it’s my standard habit to quietly say, “Thanks everyone, have a good night.” I don’t clap my hands to show I’m not stealing chips (it’s not necessary in poker), I don’t say, “Good luck everyone!” or make a lot of racket to hint for a tip as I leave, or hang out to see if the player that won the last pot I dealt is going to remember me…I just quietly get up and push out of the box. Thieves and cheats
An issue completely related to the tournaments – not only at Bellagio, but I would imagine every where in the world. During my sessions in The Fontana Lounge, dealing our tournaments, I repeatedly heard these words, “Dealers, if you deal three hands without seeing a flop, call me to the table.” That was in the matter of the super satellites, when it’s getting down to the wire on X amount of seats being awarded to the main event. Tipping
Of course I make my living on the generosity of poker players. I have worked games that had 25c rolls on the table and the quarters were used in the rake. Many a time I received a .25 tip and always said, “Thank you,” rapped it gently, and put it in my pocket – except for one time (that’s another story). Also we used to break our rake down to 50c increments in some games, and many a night I went to cash out with a bucket because if was filled with halves and quarters. Continue reading Tipping
Bellagio’s tournament is over
but poker certainly isn’t. And for those of you that aren’t already playing online, click a banner on the left, do the download thing, and jump in the action. The all new TonyGPoker will be up soon. It’s one of my favorite places to play but until things change in U.S. legislation, I’m pretty much running at UltimateBet. And UB has Roshambo? Yup! Continue reading Bellagio’s tournament is over
Night at Project City Center
It’s night time in Vegas for those that livethe daylight world, it’s my evening and time to do things I enjoy. Like, I signed the E/O-play list when I hit the room tonight. It was my Tuesday, the big tournament event is winding down, the Fontana Lounge was moving into the end of another mass of people, poker, and tournament tales. I did deal one down and that table broke as the tables were combined – actually I dealt one hand, a player went bust, time to combine. Continue reading Night at Project City Center
Weekends!
I used to believe that weekends were for resting up and recharging, breathing space and peace and quiet, readying us for the Monday grind; now I believe they are just a horrific whirlwind of events and things that never slow down and catapult us head first into thework week- no helmet. Things I could write about…
Since I’ve been such a slacker, there are a lot of things that I could put down here. Some of them aren’t worth mentioning, some are funny, some are not so damn funny. Continue reading Things I could write about…
