We are welcoming a new baby tonight

They’re in Oregon, I’m in Vegas. I’d love to be there but things have a way of getting in the way. I’m doing the weekly dental visits, cringing when I think of anyone – including my dentist – touching this nightmare in the front of my mouth (my youngest son says I look like a hillbilly and that should say it all), trying to get the property in Pahrump strings tied up (going out tomorrow to meet a house inspector), and gearing up for the WSOP to start. And I have a daily workload. So I’m still in Vegas.

My son Josh and his sweet Jenny will welcome baby Rain into their arms sometime late tonight. It’s induced labor due to medical reasons of safety but the baby was due in a few more days anyway. I’m going to sleep with the phone by my head – when I finally get there.

Riot has been a sick little boy which makes Grandmom’s heart very heavy. He’s spent some time with me as of late and we’ve played our usual games but he’s just not a happy camper. He’s on antibiotics and apparently has a sinus infection caused by allergies. UGH!

This little cutie was over to spend a few hours with me this week too:

She’s right up on her knees in an instant but then goes back to the floor to do a fish out of water crawl to where she wants to go…and of course she has food on her chin. But why not? She’s so wonderfully happy and just doesn’t seem to have a bad moment unless she’s hungry or tired. Let’s not teach her how to play poker.

I was there when Riot and Katie came into the world. It was a very emotional experience for me, for a lot of different reasons that I won’t go into. I really can’t stand to watch these girls go through the pain and distress. The final result is great, but getting there is just plain brutal. But then that sums it up for a lot of things in life.
