The dreaded “C” word

Ha!  I know you’re thinking it’s ‘cat’ right?  Nope!  It’s one of those hideous events that pop up every 5 or so years when you get older.  Colonoscopy…ugh!

Before I went to the family reunion I had one – about 3 days before.  I was given the Suprep Bowel Prep Kit – a two dose thingy to make you spend your day living and breathing on the toilet.  I can tell you it’s the most hideous concoction any ever invented and it’s designed to make you puke.  I did.

It smelled horribly of some disgusting berry mixture with way too much sweet.  I made it through the first one – not OK but I made it.  The second one stayed down close to an hour and up it all came.  You have to drink a half gallon of water in the hour following each dose. I think that’s what got me, I wish I’d done some reading on the internet first and found out what other people were doing.

Sick, sick, and sick, is the best way to describe it.  Now that that’s over, YIPPPPPPEEE!

The news following the grim and the ultra grim post hasn’t improved a lot. I picked Riot up in Vegas last week.  It was rush hour when we were heading home, speed limit 65 (we were doing about 50), two lane highway, we were in the left hand lane out in an apartment/condo area where there are no traffic lights.

As we came up to an intersection, a big moving truck in the right-hand lane was turning right.  The driver of a car that wanted to turn left, must not have seen me approaching due to the truck, he started to pull out.

I did, “OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD!” as I threw my right arm out in front of Riot to keep him back and managed to swerve to the left in the intersection (just missing the median) and went around the car without a ripple.  Of course, he had stopped or slowed way down by that time.

I couldn’t have missed him by more than 3 to 4 feet.  I had a nervous breakdown for the next 20 minutes that’s all I can say…including bursting into tears.  Kee-rist!  We got so lucky and I thanked the ones that watch over me every day almost all the way home and a number of times since then.

A few days later my central air conditioner died.  I called a repair place, they came out, the compressor was deader than a door nail.  Luckily they had a new on that would fit my old unit and it only cost $2,500.  ARGHHHH!  I never had any money.  I called my favorite banker that lives just down the street and procured a home improvement loan.  Thank you, Catmom!

The new compressor went in the following day.  Can’t tell you how blessed I feel to be sitting here in air conditioning writing this.  Can’t tell you how miserable that 24-hours was without it.

I found out a few days ago via my online medical report that I have Stage 2 Kidney disease.  This is not good.  I have one.  I would love for it to be healthy and functional for the next 100 years or so because I planned to donate some organs when I die.

I’m back to working on better health.  I believe part of it is high BP and mine gets crazy sometimes…so…one cup of coffee in the morning, change in diet to fresh veggies mainly, no salty thingies, and a few other changes going on.  Plus I’m back to my walking routine in the evenings.

Now I’m looking for bright news and good things to head my way…that’s how you kick defeat in the ass…get positive and make changes.

G’nite world.
