From there to here

My last post went up a week ago.  *slaps own face* I have been completely out of the loop and out of the mood to sit down and try to put a thought together that makes sense.  Sick?  Yes.  After my adventure to have more testing done which will eventually lead to a consultation with a surgeon (at the end of this month), I ended up with a bladder infection.Guess that’s what happens when they starting looking inside your bladder and filling it up with cold water. Color me unhappy.  Then it was like trying to pull a drunk rabbit out of the hat that found a way to crawl up under the hatband and hide out to get the office staff to help me with anything at my doctor’s office.  That team can screw up a wet dream.

I left two different messages on the doctor’s nurse’s voice mail and received no response. I had an appointment to go in for an echo cardiogram so I went with the plan that I would be asked to be seen as a ‘walk-in’ and put my name on the list for after the echo test.  It worked.  I did get in for the ultrasound and then a brief wait to see another doctor since my regular one is out of town.

Sure enough, blazing, painful, bladder infection.  Sux! I hit Walgreens to leave my scrip and planned to wait for it to be filled.  There were 8 or 9 techs and the main drug handler (manager of the pharmacy I suppose) behind the counter of the pharmacy and no one hardly in the store.  Not to worry, it would be a 2 1/2 hour wait for it to be filled.  FK!  That meant driving home and then returning later and then returning home for a 21 mile trip all told.  Irritating. But that’s what happened.  Started the meds 3 days ago and I feel like a new human except for the fact that I’m almost unable to stay awake.  I simply can’t wake up.

I woke up briefly while playing a tournament on WSOP.com late last night when it got down to heads-up play.  Had him so bad — and covered — with KK and he had 99.  Sure, a 9 hit the turn just like it’s supposed to.  Then we battled a bit and out of nowhere, I got the pop-up stating that they were having trouble verifying my location and they disconnected me. WTF?

This came in a few days ago:

Hey Linda,

As part of our ongoing effort to continually improve the player experience at WSOP.com, we’re pleased to announce the introduction of a new geo-location method.

Relying primarily on Wi-Fi to determine your location, rather than on cell phone towers, our new service is more reliable than our previous solution, resulting in fewer geo-location errors and dropped sessions on WSOP.com. Players without access to Wi-Fi can continue to geo-locate using our original cellular-based service.

If you haven’t played on WSOP.com recently, there’s never been a better time to get back to the tables and experience the best online poker tournaments and cash games in Nevada.

For more information on our new geolocation services, please click here.

See you at the tables,
The WSOP.com Team

Mine is enabled – and had been.  I have three computers in the house – one desktop and two laptops – that are always available and pretty much running.  I still got disconnected and had to race to another computer and log-in to watch my opponent going all-in every hand to take the blinds and antes.  I managed to recoup on one hand but got busted a minute later because by now he seriously had me covered.

Damn it!  If you can get the Card Fairy to go south just before a storm hits, you can’t get the geolocation services to work when you’re battling it out for your tournament life.  Oh well, all’s well that ends shitty.  I took 2nd place.  I managed 3rd place in one earlier.

I’ll be back tomorrow with another post, prolly continuing on the ‘relationship-in-poker‘ thread.
