At one point I hosted my blog at Blogger.com and when PokerWorks was absorbed into the PokerNews family, the programmers wanted to run it in WordPress…so we did. The original blogging — when I was dumb as hell about setting up a website but did my own, I simply loaded each new post into one l-o-n-g page. I had the backup for that since it was all on my computer and then published to the web.
I knew somewhere, in all of my external hard drives and mess, I still had blog posts that haven’t resurfaced since we went to WordPress. I found 2002 in one of those old folders and will start running them — in order of the date they originally posted in — and also adding them to my View from the Box series. For some reason, I feel extremely relieved to have finally found their hiding place since searching through these pages on WordPress hasn’t turned up some of the posts I knew I had made.
On the poker side of life, yes, the WSOP kicked off yesterday in Las Vegas. I had a dual purpose run into Sin City for the day. I had Mr. Riot at my house for a 4-day weekend and had to take him home, I made the Rio and picked up my media pass and then it was off to the dentist to have the crown put on to replace the temp. All accomplished and it’s the second day of 100 degree temps in the valley. Exhausting.
On the life side of events, Sis’ son Chad and his mate Darcy were due to hit Vegas yesterday too to have their son delivered by C-Section. The baby refused to cooperate and was born at home at about midnight on Monday. Scary – cord wrapped around his neck, not breathing when he first arrived, Dad moved the cord, Dad and maternal Grandad (a trained paramedic) who had arrived as fast as possible when he heard the news, gave baby CPR (don’t ask me how that works on someone who weighs under 7 pounds), and baby started breathing, then paramedics arrived to take mom and baby to Pahrump hospital, baby was medivaced into Vegas Children’s Sunrise hospital. So far, all is well. Baby will stay there for about a week. Whew! So happy for all of us that the result turned out as well as it did.
Riot got to go shooting for the first time a few weeks ago:
I have a video of him shooting my Ruger 10/22 but, as usual, I didn’t stop recording after he finished so it has to be edited and cut…the ground out here in the desert is pretty boring as I keep walking with video on.
I’m out for the rest of the day. Will try to make it back tomorrow, or even later today for more.
