Hitting the Rio

I took a spin in Marie’s sporty, little, red VW, I think it’s a luxury CC but I don’t know jack about these things and I didn’t check to see what it actually is…so it’s a guess on my part after looking at the VW site.  Gary was adamant that I drive it while I’m staying in town.  OK!  Some times anyway.  It’s fast, it’s much more rapid response on the steering wheel than I’m used to, and a lot lower to the ground…but the parking is easy.  I do worry that some clown will park next to it in the Rio parking lot and knock a dent in the door…Kee-Rist!  Crossing my fingers they won’t because that’s where it’s at today.

The temperature finally feels like Vegas in the summer but most everyone trekking in from the parking lot is carrying a jacket.  As soon as you hit the interior and cool down, it feels too cold.  There’s hardly ever a happy medium.  It does remind me of the time dealing swing shift at the Mirage and the poker room was a sauna in progress and seemed to be heating up.  No matter how much bitching the players (even the high limit), dealers, and staff did, the temperature continued to rise.  Come to find out that Steve Wynn’s mother was in the building playing slots – who the hell knows in what section – and she was cold.  Security wanted to make one person happy…go figure!

But back to the Amazon Room, I hit the door with my rolling computer case and all the other stuff I drag in with me, to hear Steppenwolf rocking out on the sound system with Born to Be Wild.

It was a nice start to my time in the room today – and brings back memories, some treasured, some better left behind.  Event #13 $1k NLH started a few minutes later.  I will be out and about, taking photos, catching up on PokerWorks’ work, and back from time to time.  BTW, is there a real world?  Or are we all doing time in the world we create with our own view of reality?  Naw…you don’t have to answer that.
