My face slid off about two hours ago

I have no words to describe tired.  It’s possible that when I lay down, I will simply dissolve and disappear into the universe somewhere in a tired vapor or stack of tireds that have no individual markings or differences.

.

But in the meantime, I wanted to check in and jabberwocky.  I played a play money $500 tournament for a seat in the give away 50 seats to the WSOP main event on Absolute Poker this afternoon.  Brutal.  I made it from 3338 players down to 32nd.  I had to wade through 27 more players to get a seat in the tournament – and just went donksville in the SB with A-J off when I flopped top pair.  I should have pitched, I had enough chips to survive a few orbits.  I ran into a bigger donkey than me that played 10-8 off.  But that wasn’t the only tournament I played trying to snag a shot at the Main Event freerolls.  I shot off all of my FPPs on PokerStars over the last 3 days, plus tried some of the 4X shootout free play tourneys.  Painful, that’s all I can tell ya.  Guess I won’t even have a whiff of a shot at the main event again this year…naw…I don’t have 10K or the fortitude to try and go in and wade through the fields at the Rio in a satellite.

Riot’s still in lock down, she-parental believes she has total control of everything.  She may have a very abrupt wake up here shortly.  And yes, Ten Mile, if life ever slows down for 3 1/2 seconds, I believe I will pen a book – of course I might just get all incensed and crazy and start it whether life slows down or not. I sure miss my little buddy.

.

I was in Vegas all day on Thursday.  Sis and I went to the insurance company to get all of our business straightened out.  Some of the news I got was a big relief.  I have other financial issues in the air and slowly, very slowly it seems, they are beginning to smooth out.  Some things are easier to put off than they are to just take care of – that’s how I feel about it right now.  Ask me how I feel about it when it all hits at once and I could have taken care of some of it before it became the log jam.

.

My dentist told me they were going to remodel and the whole place would look different when I came back for another check-up in two weeks.  Figure he made so much off of me that the remodel was a given.  Just kidding…  Wonder if I’ll ever have a time when I’m not going back in except for cleanings.

.

I spent most of the afternoon at the Rio, visited with Aaron and Jennifer (writers on PokerWorks if you didn’t know) and actually got introduced to Jeffrey Pollack.  Nice, short visit but damn his hand was cold when he shook my hand.

.

I walked around, stared at players, went back to the quiet, nicely cool media room that’s separated from the poker area, did some work, went back out, walked around, took a hike to Starbucks for a bad cup of coffee…which brings to mind, why are Starbucks and Seattle’s Best so damn proud of the fact that they only brew one kind of coffee?  Like…ask for French Roast…”We brew Some-shit-bold!!!”  As if it’s the stone nuts when it comes to coffee, it’s shit, that’s what it is but desperate people drink shit.  So I paid 3 legs for a cup of shit with half and half and headed down the hall back to the tournament area.

.

I sent a text to Claudia to see where/if she was dealing, she was.  I finally found here in Brasilia getting ready to start dealing a tournament.  It was fun.  She had a table full of guys settling in that I couldn’t help but instigate some chatter with when she started talking about her hair.  Hey, it’s a woman thing.  She looked great, the guys were better than cool, and I was out the door trudging down the hall to the main tournament area again.

.

Back to the quiet media room, more work, more walking around in the tournament area.  The media room has free small bags of Jack Links Beef Jerky nuggets…not bad!

I took some pictures in night shot.  I particularly like the one of Matusow.  Note that night shot has a tendency to make one’s eyes appear as if they have gray/whitish pupils, but other than that some of those shots are my very favorite.

Matusow was sitting right next to Archie Karras – the guy that ran a $10K loan into over 34M shooting pool with Bobbie Baldwin and playing high stakes poker with the boys – and went to Binions and went on the biggest run anyone can remember at the craps table.  Archie did buy a car out of the 34M he won – the story goes that the rest of it went across the tables at the Mirage (hey…I dealt those games) and back to the craps table.  Archie prided himself on being the ‘World’s Greatest Gambler’ back then.  And he played a lot of heads-up against the ‘World’s Greatest Poker Player’ Chip Reese.

Bobbie Belande forcing the dealer to call for the floor because of a raise decision when he threw in an oversize chip.  Greg Raymer was at the table and reinforced the floor decision.  Bobby’s quite the character.

John Esposito recognizing me out of dealer garb…strange but a lot of people never seem to know who you are unless you dress the dress and do the walk.

I finally gave up for the evening about 6:30, the shit coffee couldn’t keep me cranking and I was ready to escape.  I waited for another text from Claudia and sat in the hallway with Dan – he teased his taste buds with a pepperoni pizza while I told him poker stories from days of old.

I had thought I would stay in Vegas for the night but I gave it up and decided to drive home.  Don’t exhale too hard if you run into the tired vapor or kick at a stack of tireds…it might be me.
