Information is like a tidal wave

There’s an old saying that goes something like, “They treat me like a mushroom, just feed me shit and keep me in the dark,” and there are days when I relish that thought.  There’s too much out there to even begin to try and accumulate it where it’s easily accessible. And news, coupled with my own thoughts, presentations by friends, communication with the world through chats, blogs, phone, snail mail, one on one or group meetings, daily chores, work, life in general just tends to make everything come in tidal wave proportions.  I admit to being picked up by the wave and slammed into an invisible barrier that refuses to yield.  I’m overwhelmed.

I manage a variety of tasks in my efforts with the PokerWorks group and one of them is editing and helping with a small part of HealthNews.com.  A recent post by Nicki in her blog has brought a nifty device to my attention – the Brain Port. While the brain port is a vision aid, my thoughts are spinning off on a way to utilize the brain and everything that it contains since birth and being able to categorize and assimilate information at the rate we receive it, and pull it up in orderly chunks of information when we want to.  A major factor in addressing our situation and taking care of priorities – IMHO – is the flood of information that continually runs into our conscious thought, while memories and the physical sense (pain/smell/taste, hunger, etc.) are always demanding attention, and lends to being sidetracked or losing focus.  A brain port that would allow one to plug in and defragment and store new information would be a huge life management aid.  It would also lend to another great science fiction book/movie along the lines of the Matrix where we could choose to have our vast knowledge base stored online and someone could hack it and really fuck with us the next time we plugged in…yah, I’m a sick bitch.  Sign me up for the brain port brain management program as I’m on terminal overload right now and it just isn’t slowing down.

The weather is great.  Poker is painful.  I tried another one of those $500 free money buy-ins on Absolute Poker, about 80 out of the five seat giveaway, with blinds at 1K-2K, I raised it to 12k with A-KSpades.  Got reraised another $45K which put me all-in and left the raiser with about 13K if he lost.  He had K-Q of hearts.  Sure, give him a Queen.  Some days I just hate poker and the way the cards run.

The PokerWorks 8 game was on last night.  It was fun.

Al was working at the Rio.  He was disconnected/or connected, however you want to phrase, it several times.  And he’d been at the hooker bar having a drink or three.  DJ was, as usual, carving up the chat now and then with comments like ‘grow up Al’ which is really hysterical…if you knew Al.  PokerHack managed to stay connected – but she was at home in the mountains this time.  Cmacc – Charlie – is coming to Vegas this week and I hope we have the opportunity to visit for a bit.

.

We have a slight dilemma going on though, with the new issues in depositing on PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker, a few of us are either out of funds or short funds and may not make the bi-weekly at PokerStars next time.  We need a new venue as an alternative…besides it would be fun to rotate to different sites.  Would everyone interested in playing please leave a comment on their choices of rooms that they either have funds in or would be willing to invest in to keep the tournament going?

Gotta run, the brain port isn’t working yet and I’M SO CONFUSED!

  1. For the benefit of your loyal readers, Charlie and I actually chopped the massive first and second place prizes. As far as future games, I lovvvvvve the 8-game format, and I think Stars is the only one that has it, which gives a lot more play than HORSE did (maybe even too much?, lol). I also have a little bit of money on Tilt, but for various reasons cannot put money on any other sites.

  2. I doubt there is an answer that will please everyone here.
I can’t deposit on Stars or FT and only have $ at Absolute. So until the deposit issue is resolved, I can’t play. Linda was kind enough to stake me this last week and I hoped to pay her back, but alas my AA was stuffed by a superior hand…KJ off… and when the flop was KKx DJ got all my chips.
So Linda, thanks and just put it on my bill 🙂
