It’s a hot night in the desert. As of late it’s cooled down a bit after the sun has dropped to the other side of the world, but tonight it stayed too warm.
The boy and I went out to hunt rabbits more than once today. We saw one three different times. You have to love the enthusiasm of a child that believes he will ‘catch that rabbit’ as he instantly bounds into a sprinter’s leap and takes off. We went to the duck pond, it’s in the central part of the town. We pitched dried bread into the water and watched the babies and adults romp after it. Of course the boy had to wear his “blues”‘ – jeans – and of course there were sprinklers running when we got there…he said it was raining as he ran into them and stayed.
My annual trip north is coming up in about three weeks. I haven’t figured out my departure date yet. Kayanna will be here on the 17th – that’s a trip into Vegas to pick her up – and I’m kicking around the idea of just having everything tucked up and ready to roll a day early and spending the night at an RV park rather than drive back out and hitch up to drive back through Vegas. I have thought about taking a route North out of Pahrump but I’m not sure yet what I want to do. I have a bunch of odds and ends to take care of before the trip and if I don’t get into gear soon, it will all be shoved in my face at the last minute and I’ll be grouching around trying to find a spare minute somewhere.

My poker play as of late has been a few live games of limit holdem…$2-4 limit. I don’t have time to try and fade through a tournament and of course I always start with the attitude that I’m going to win – that would put me in the mindset that I would be there for hours. 🙂

On the other side of life, who’s surprised at Michael Jackson’s going? That’s not a stab at anything – just the realization when I heard the news that it wasn’t a shocker.

And back to the poker side of life, I’m not surprised that the $50K HORSE was a disappointment in the way of registrants. There is a lot of money in the poker world but realistically, how can the same people that fade the big buy-ins all the time, keep fading all the action and expense of poker? And this may sound a bit strange but it appears to me that Jeff Lisandro wants to keep rubbing ‘sponsor’ into the dirt with his interviews and over mentioning the fact that he was looking for a sponsor and now that’s he won three golds, no one is still approaching him about a sponsorship. The only person that I’m still in shock over not having a sponsor is Kathy Liebert.

Another year that I haven’t scored a seat in the main event of the WSOP. I tried, and of course I did the cheap way by playing freerolls, steps, and FPP tournaments. I’ll just store my dreams up for another year.
