Happy Sunday!

Why Sunday?  Why not Sunday?  I’m aiming for making every day of the week a happy day.  The frown grinch can ruin your attitude and ability to smile later on in life as it turns the corners of your mouth perpetually down.  Riot’s at home with mom and dad, Grannie has been kicking back in quietly, peaceful relaxation except for the intermittent, ear gutting, disturbing havoc coming from next door, and life is good here in the desert.

I’m still following this when I hear news of it because I was one of those 50K people (clean bill of health for me after testing was completed) but the whole thing makes me sick.  The US lacks so much in medical care for the population as a whole, and then to have doctors and nurses with no concern for the people they treat makes it an even bigger nightmare.

I’m playing Badugi on PokerStars right now, the $1-2 game, and one of my opponents is named RectalRash.  Kinda sickeningly comedic…  It brings to mind the names that parents tag their kids with and what the kids face as they go through school and life with a name that’s out of the reaches (just for you TenMile).  An example is, of course, my own sweet buddy, Riot.  And he totally lives up to the name.  “Quiet Riot!” is kinda fun, but he never is unless he’s asleep.

On the poker front, I can’t do poo-squat in a NLH tourney.  I tried two yesterday, same dead zone, same end result.  I’ve bounced out of two tourneys in the last four days by getting K-K picked off by 10-10 when they hit a set.  So…should I stop playing Kings when I see a 10 on the board.  HELL NO!  Instead I’ve pretty much stopped playing tourneys and gone with the ring Badugi games, managing to hold my own and pick up a few pennies here and there.  I played in a $3-6 the other night that I won at the end of the session but it was a group of insaniacs and one really needed a bigger BR than I have to play that particular game.  I even hopped into a $5-10 at one point but it was more relaxed than the $3-6 was…although I didn’t fare well in the $5-10.

I’ve been consulting with Jamie (all around handyman extraordinaire) about the sound barrier/fence/wall I will build between me and my neighbors.  It’s between block wall and straw bale.  I’m really interested in straw bale for a lot of reasons, one is that it has the best noise buffering capabilities and it may be the best economical solution also.  Jamie is going to check out a few things for me on pricing with rebar/blah, blah, blah, and let me know early in the week.  I’m excited about getting it started.

And next week the truck driving duo will be in.  Sis and I have an afternoon planned in Las Vegas.  Wish it was to party and kick back but it’s the tax season.  Time to start pulling out all the shoebox filing tickets and start filing in excel format.  And get a better system set up for next year.  After I send Uncle Sam all of his due, I’ll be crying.

Laters…

  1. My daddy told me; “I can accept that, Cow Chain drug ten miles on a muddy road. But now do your chores.”

I figgered few would understand my tribulations if I used Cow Chain. So . . .. But truly, we lived so far back the government dropped supplies without parachutes. I found later it was so they’d see the dust clouds of the boxes hitting. Only way they knew, no one in the area would talk to them.

And, as I can see it, nothings changed.

    From the reaches,
