Doing the life thing

It seems almost impossibly overwhelming to keep up with everything that needs to be done – on a regular basis – and then things that need to be done that pop up out of nowhere swirled into the mix just make it all a little more confusticating.

I started insurance shopping.  I’ve been on Cobra since leaving Bellagio and it’s about to run out.  Yup, it’s been 15 months.  Where did that time slip off too? Never – NEVER – submit your info in an online form for insurance or a mortgage.  If I hadn’t been desperately trying to give myself a head start on Cobra’s expiration, I never would have.  UGH!  Why did I wait so long?  I loved the coverage for the amount I paid each month.  I’m too young to apply for medicare.  I don’t even like the thought of any of it.  Sometimes life just doesn’t cooperate and you have to adapt.  *sob*

Sis has been here most of 10 days now.  They’ll be pulling out at the end of the week for their ‘drive across America for the big bucks’ job.  They’ll be out for six weeks again with a stopover of a day now and then.  Kind of nice for me, I get company part of the time and solitude most of the time.  The big rig was taken back into Vegas about five days ago, the driveway is back to normal except for boxes and debris that have to be taken to the landfill/dump soon.  Their house is coming together and looks like a home instead of a jumble of boxes and furniture.

We had a family dinner tonight, Sis’s boy Chad and his girl Heather, two of my sons, Dan and Darian – and my little bud Riot.  I let him kick up a little dirt tonight…literally.

Riot would chose playing in the dirt over anything else that’s offered.  Sometimes I refuse to have to put up with hosing him down and the clean up that goes with the dirt – sometimes it’s mandatory to just watch a completely happy kid (no matter what age) kick and throw dirt.  The only penalty imposed on him is that he has to be hosed down afterwards…and he doesn’t even view that as a penalty, his second love is water.

Everyone should take the time to play in the dirt now and then – or watch someone they love play in it.  It’s good for the soul…good, clean, dirty fun.

Monday was a day of an early a.m. appointment in Pahrump and then the rest of the day and evening spent in Las Vegas making several necessary appointments.  Hell…I don’t miss being in Las Vegas at all.

Still have the poker project going on and not doing well at all it with, in other words I play like shit!  An update there soon because I did take 50 FPP and play in a ‘get a piece of Chino Rheem’ tournament and won a seat to get into another tournament that pays real money, it’s part of the Million Dollar Men promotion on PokerStars.

I have ongoing projects on the property, pampas grass to plant – some planted already, more gravel to shovel and level out, more patio tiles to lay, more junk/trash to be raked and hauled away, and on and on and on…

Just color me kicking back in Pahrump, doing the life thing.
