Scary Kids Scaring Kids????

I thought I’d make it back yesterday with a lengthy post of the noise of life and all the things that are speeding straight into my forehead like there’s a target painted on it. I wasn’t. I’m not even going to get to it now. Tonight is Kayanna’s last night in Las Vegas this trip and we had an invite to go to the House of Blues and watch a few bands do their stuff. We took it. It was a bit of fun, a bit of insanity, a bit of a look at entertainment as I know it not.

I guess if you ain’t moshed, you ain’t lived. This was my first experience sitting up above in the VIP area watching the moshing going on. It reminded me of tribal dancing or belly busting in the jock college bar. Although I’ve had it explained to me what it was like, you really have to see it to fully appreciate the rite of careening of into your fellow dancers as you jump wildly about and shove everyone that gets in your way and as you jump into their space, they shove you. Fun…yeah baby!

We watched three bands perform and didn’t stay for the last one. The 2nd band was Scary Kids Scaring Kids. The singer had an incredible voice but everything kind of gets lost in everyone else’s act of trying to do something that no one has ever done on stage before. Is that possible? I think not. The downside for me is this is not music, this is a lot of noise with more noise trying to gain attention. When the lead singer walks out and says, “I just got out of prison for slitting people’s throats whenever I wanted and wherever I wanted to,” the whole thing kind of goes South IMHO.

But we were treated like royalty, thanks to John O and my son Dan’s getting us there. It’s great to grab a seat, have people wait on us and watch out for us, and Ryan and Kayanna are a real treat to hang out with. I really did get a charge out of watching the Mosh Pit, the bands, my grandkids, the people around us, and Dan – as I’ve never watched him physically take a person out of the Mosh Pit before.

So my little Beauty Queen leaves tomorrow a.m. I leave now for sleep. I will get back but it’s been a race with the clock for priorities. G’nite!
