The Sunday after

Too much food, mainly because MOI is always afraid that there won’t be enough for everyone. We were expecting 14 or so adults, a few kids, and one baby. We had close to that amount but I over did it as usual and my truck driving sis was laughing at me – as usual. Vickie and I have close to the same views on food, MAKE SURE THERE’S PLENTY OF IT, but I always prepare too much. I believe it goes back to always remembering being hungry when I was growing up. That’s a long story and isn’t needed to fill in the blanks. Let me just leave it at the fact that I could never stand it if I cooked a meal and people walked away wondering where the main course was.

I’ve promised to cut way back for our Christmas feed.

Our whole Thanksgiving meal went off pretty much without a hitch, served about an hour later than planned but no one was leaving town anyway, except the truck driving duo and they had enough time for their Vegas layover so it wasn’t a big deal.

I was off line for over 24 hours: no writing, no PokerWorks, no emails, no chat, no online poker fix…so that’s what normal people do??? How droll. I admit to not missing it too much but I was inordinately busy and ran out of steam after waking at 5:30 a.m. so I could head to the old digs and start primping up the dead birds for their main event appearance later in the day. Then I had the sweet boy Riot and cutie pie Katelyn in the middle of my fixin’s as I was their care taker for about three hours. They are always a welcome break but they require a bit of attention and there’s no slowing down when it comes to tending two little people. I often wonder how the hell I survived with three young sons, a full time job, and life stuffed up my nose 24/7. Kee-rist!

Me and my two wonder charges – note the hair color – everyone else does!!!

At 5 p.m. Vickie, Monte, and I hit the door. I’d had enough food, people, and festivities for one day – and cooking and cleaning and serving (chit…that’s why I’m single – I don’t do those domesticated women type of things anymore for groups larger than one) – and we headed to the Palms. We gave the Palms some of our hard earned $$ and managed a brief ‘hello’ to Wayne by 7:30ish. I dropped Monte and Vickie back at their truck at the Wild, Wild West and headed for the chill of the coach and my electric blanket. It felt like I’d been gone from home for two weeks. Damn I love my little place.

Today I’m going to find a game on PokerStars and see if I can increase my bankroll – and check in to see how my competitors are doing on Chasing Chris.
