Just getting started!

I think I’m kinda feeling great over the people that have left me comments, a few ‘e’ cards, and emails, all expressing how much they will miss me or are thinking of me. Honest, I’m not really going anywhere that I can’t be tracked back to right here. I will still be very active with PokerWorks and blogging away with tales of my life and poker and people, filling up the pages of Tango.I received a great comment from Marty – fellow dealer at Bellagio – helpful thoughts on my screenplay – all around loveable personality kind of guy, and I just have to post it here. It makes me feel so damn good.

linda,
i am deeply saddened by your abrupt departure just when we started to really bond. spending those brief moments at mangia, necessarily, offered me a medicinal oasis in the belly of the corporate beast among all the comically industrious employees that would scurry about. i will force myself to fill that gaping hole of your absence with cheerful thoughts of your impending happiness. i love you, i wish you success in everything you do especially that elusive gold bracelet.
all the best, marty

He’s not even close to getting rid of me. We are going to set up a schedule to meet once a week and WRITE. We both have projects. If we commit the time, we will accomplish.

I kind of wondered if anyone would start to smell the bacon frying with my last two posts. The first onestarted with “She got out.” The second one was this line “I told him he couldn’t fire me because I’d already quit.” in this post. Wayne caught the line in the second post but he already knew.

I’m sure some of you will believe that I was fired and I’m just doing a cover up. Believe me, I have never been written up, suspended, or had any problem anywhere in any job in gaming. And I can’t even say I’m laying down the deck. I plan on dealing a tournament that Suzie is going to be working at Turks and Caicos the end of September. I may deal some private tourneys or parties but I honestly hope that I never have to go back to a casino related dealing job. It’s just time to step away from it.

But no one should ever think that I hate dealing poker or hated anything or anyone. I love the game of poker. I love the action and interaction between everyone. Without some ugly bastards, the game just wouldn’t be THE GAME. But most of the people that pull up a chair are just that – people. Some of them whine, some of them cry, some of them get uncontrollably angry, some are funny as hell, and some know exactly why they are there and know how to cultivate the green felt. Most of them I call friend. Those that I don’t, who the hell cares about them anyway. *water glasses clink*

I’ve been moving a little earth in my little piece of dirt that borders the front side of the coach. I planted marigolds and rose moss yesterday. Today I picked up a couple of larger blooming shrubs and will plant them after the sun starts to drop – if I don’t wait until then, I will drop. It’s about 100 outside now with an ugly wind…a convection oven.

I’m playing a tourney on Full Tilt this afternoon and playing a low limit NLH game on UB right now. Gotta love this retired life.

  1. Now I just feel terrible. I missed you on my recent trip in early June. I just could not make it to the Bellagio when you were around. I feel bad now. Thanks for all the years of writing about the game and the whole game at that. You are one of my influences to get interested in poker. Probably the first blog I ever read. Take care.
