What a day for a day dream…

But instead of dreaming, I was out in the heat, moving things from a storage unit back into Hyman Place. After stopping by the bank, slamming a $100 worth of diesel into the Steed, hitting the USPS that’s openseven days a week to send registered mail, and then food with my sweet boy and his sweet boy– it’s just an unreal experience to watch a two year old (once again, since I’ve been around a few before), as he grabs his head and exclaims, “I bwoke it!” Hehits a ball with his little plastic, golf clubs, throws himself on the floor, spread eagled, and lays there until someone asks, “You OK?” He then jumps up and exclaims,”Yough!” And we repeat the play, over and over, until he’s off and running in another direction, thinking other thoughts, and laughing most of the time.Damn it! I love kids. Especially when they’re close to me and I get those special hugs.

Then I was off to the Rio, to see what was going on in the afermath of 8,000 some odd players busting down to a few more days of poker. My main man, Craig Cunningham AKA ccexplore, was there, picking up loose threads and weaving them into words that make one want to read more. Craig picks the human interest side of poker and has stayed with, and tracked, several people from the beginning of their play. My saying he does a great job really doesn’t pay justice to his talents in writing and social skills. But does he play poker? Hell if I know if he can play poker! He beat the shit out of me the night we first met, playing $4-8H…luck. Purely luck.

I met Craig and we decided to hit the coffee shop. We ran into Tuscaloosa Johnny in the media hall and asked him if he wanted to join us. He did. Nice! We had a moment in time away from the noise of life and poker. Life should hold more moments like that. Johnny played in the main event. You can read his story on his blog. My first meeting with him was at the WPBT Tournament held at Caesar’s on July 8th. We sat next to each other in the green felt battle at one point. Unfortunately, this is the only picture I have of him and it really doesn’t do justice to the person under the hat.

After talking to Johnny and a few other people, PokerWorks is severely understaffed in the media department and WSOP blogging environment. Poor Craig! It’s a good thing he has the spirit and will of a superhuman being. (Anybody out there that really wants to write? You can send me an email ‘geenen – at – pokerworks.com’.)

Aside from the fact that I haven’t played any poker in awhile, other than online at PartyPoker and Ultimate Bet, when I’m working on PokerWorks and Tango, I seriously want to play more tournaments. I’m not a NLH cash game player but I like NLH tourneys. The key is to jockey my time and schedule to where I can play. Come on Houdini-ites of the world, help me figure this one out.

On a note that’s probably not as funny to everyone else as it is to me, the key words that bring people to Tango – one of them is ‘fucking grandma’ because I blogged about Scotty Nguyen calling me that while I was dealing a game in 2004. Another one is ‘Cyndy Violette boobs’ and ‘Cyndy Violette tits’. I’ve never written about those!!! Those people searching those key words and ending up here must be really disappointed.

Some random photos of players at the WSOP. Check this kid’s ID. And check out that shit load of chips in front of him…

What a great smile this girl has. Meet April.

I often wonder how some of these people felt, sitting in the biggest event of the year (maybe I’ll find out next year), and what their expectations were. And how many of them were so damn young…how the hell?

More photos in the coming posts. This is the beginning of a busy week for me. The Steed needs an oil change and bath. I’m pulling all my loose ends together. Monday I call Wheeler RV to see if the mysterious jacks that live in the twilight zone are in. If so, I’m off to have that done on Wednesday early a.m. If the jacks are invisible again – or kidnapped by jacknabbers – I’m leaving town anyway…either Thursday night or Friday a.m. I’ll be posting on the trip North, dragging my home behind me. I should be out of Vegas close to two weeks. Yippeee!! First road trip and looking forward to it, andmy brothers and sisters, and the peace and quiet of the mountains, trees, lakes, and life in a laid back atmosphere. Shure…I’ll have a glass of wine for you. *glasses clink*
