Strange…how a conversation

starts a small trickle of memories that break the barrier of time and explode into a raging river of emotion.  My chat with the Hack tonight brings her to a one year anniversary of the loss of her husband.  I had lost a husband a very, very long time ago and while we weren’t comparing memories, we were sharing thoughts about how people seem to avoid you after you become alone.  My thoughts went to my mom.  I remember many things about my mom and sometimes I had a very difficult time dealing with her straight laced opinions and the fact that I was going to hear about it whether I wanted to or not.  Continue reading Strange…how a conversation

2010 – the people

I attempted to give an adequate description of the house that I spent the last few hours of  waiting for the yearly countdown – out with the old, in with the new – goodbye 2009.  The people, of course, (how can you have a party if no one shows up?) were the key ingredients.  There were many people there that I have worked with, two that were my supervisors – Donna Harris and Suzie Lederer – and, of course, people I dealt to over the years…not to mention my family, the truck driving duo. 2010 in S-U-P-E-R Style

I have to admit I like house parties much better than lounge/club parties anymore – particular house parties that is.  Suzie sent me the gracious invite to attend the Lederer’s new house/New Year’s Eve party and it was an event.  The only part of it that was almost comically ridiculous was the attitude of the security guard at the gate.  A car was ahead of us at the guard house and they had pulled about 10 feet past the door of the guard house and stopped, rather than have them try to back up to the door – and possibly run into me – I parked about 8 feet shy of the door.  Continue reading 2010 in S-U-P-E-R Style

Once in a Blue Moon

How often does it fall on New Year’s Eve? I don’t have the time or the energy to put up the New Year’s Eve party pictures tonight, possibly not even tomorrow.  I do have time to relate the tale of how the Blue Moon captured my full attention just after we cleared the foot hills coming down the hump towards Vegas.  It was frigging incredible, too big to be real, suspended over the lights of the city, and as amazing as the sight was, what was even more amazing was the people that were pulling over like we were, jumping out with their cameras.  AWESOME! Today appears gloomy

looking out from my windows, the sky is dark and overcast, but my thoughts are filled with happy, happy, and a zest for life.  I went for a long desert walk yesterday at midday, it was cool but the sun was out intermittently.  Today I’m supposed to walk with Amy, whether she ventures out or not, I will still go.  Desert walking is a gentle, cleansing bath for the soul. Perhaps that’s part of the ‘happy, happy’ that’s running around inside me.
