Sooner or later…I always come back. It’s been awhile. MOI’s been a very, very busy girl. Mz. DigDug has been digging up the earth for the last 5 trees to be planted on the back of the property by the fence line, the new holes are dug, the trees have yet to be dug – I’m counting on my son to be out this afternoon and that’s where we’re heading.
Along with the digging, there was old fence to be torn out in the back, metal fence posts to be dug up and removed, (guess what, Home Depot has everything to put in a fence, including a post pounder, but no post puller…WHOOPEEE), and the metal seems to become one with the earth as five inches of the tip of it (below the metal fletching) rusts and seems to expand. Then there’s raking up old dead weed and grass patches underneath and around some of the desert bushes and someone threw out clipped palm fronds and grass clippings years ago – they all add to the matted mess and make it much harder to rake up. My son came out a coupla days last week and took the chain saw to some bad branches and spots that needed trimming and managed to remove most of the mistletoe from the mesquites. We still have a few spots left to hit. It’s coming along nicely but there’s still a lot to do before the heat hits the land for the summer.
Riot was out over the weekend. He’s had a loose tooth for some time and was extremely unhappy when I talked to him about the facts of life…like all of your teeth are going to come out and you get brand new ones…and everyone in your class will loose their teeth too. He went into instant panic and said, “Grandmom, let’s go brush my teeth.” No amount of explaining or talking made it better for him and yesterday afternoon the big event happened. He called me, crying his heart out, and I tried to make it sound upbeat and fun but he wasn’t having any of it. Oh well…
On the poker side of life, let’s talk the PokerWorks Family HORSE tourney. We had eight players – perfect for the HORSE game as we can all jabber at each other. I was so tired I could barely focus and forewarned everyone that I was dragging ass.
The results:

Joshuasouth2 is my son that lives in Springfield – mom and son dominated!!! Woo Hoo! djhomeschool (Andrew) was 1st out which is really unusual, that’s normally my spot or I’m close to it anyway. Andrew has a new podcast up, I’m listening to it now. The tumor removal is funny. So was the poker hand and the kitten faced kid.
Thanks everyone for coming to the tourney. Goat, nice to have you with us but I don’t remember one peep out of you.
As Alexe was busting me in the last hand, I was playing in a $3.30 R $40k guarantee and looked over to see Aces with two people going all-in behind me…Holy Shit! It’s Christmas. I won that hand. In that tourney, for the first four hours, if I picked up A-K, Kings, Aces, Jacks, Queens, I won the pot. I waited a long time in between but when they hit, they were good. Unfortunately, the last hour and half or so, I went stone card dead, 7-2 had my name on, and it’s brother 6-2 came calling frequently just so I’d remember where my name was. I finally went all-in with A-Q off (the biggest hand I’d seen in over an hour) with my last 200K or so (blinds were 20-40K) and ran into pocket 10s. No pain. I was out in 31st place of 5114 runners and made $109.94. *Heavy sigh*
Time to get back to work…
