Life in the Slow Lane

I think I’m there. Life isn’t slow for me however. I have a continual run of things to do but not too many places to go. Except yesterday I had several stops to make around town and managed to accomplish all in about a 3 hour time span. Pahrump is pretty damned big, not congested with traffic and people streaming across the streets but BIG, sprawling, everything is spread out without a central downtown type of core.

There are 3 post offices here. The main one is on Postal Drive. I laughed my ass off when I heard that. Too many times I’ve wondered where all the action was for people going postal…the perfect portal.

I continue my quest on Chasing Chris. It’s ugly-i-cious. I cannot win. I finally figured out why. It’s my unlucky teeth. I have been through the dental work dregs of hell. “It’s your bite Linda.”

Umnhhh! In the meantime, it’s the damned teeth – two front ones to be exact. After going through the brackets, having the gum lasered off, temporary crowns that made my lips and roof of my mouth explode due to an allergic reaction, and the pain of the evil tooth never settling into a ‘good’ feeling after having been extracted out of its comfy bed in the jawbone, I went back to my dentist on Tuesday at 7 a.m. to have replacement set of permanent crowns seated (because I could spit water through the gaps between them in my gum line and they were just all wrong) – is this sentence freaking long or what? – ONLY to find out that I was having another set of temporary crowns put on for another week or so because the molds weren’t accepted by the company that makes unlucky teeth…must be related to the Card Fairy.

Another hour and a half in the dentist’s chair at an ungodly hour in the morning, more shots in the roof of the mouth and gum, more scraping, prying, carving, and PAINFUL throbbing when the novocain wore off. And seriously NOT looking forward to the exploding lip/roof of the mouth irritation due to allergic reaction to the temps. I have been wearing the sports mouth guard for the last four days and will continue to do so until the dental appointment. Ain’t it wonderful? Yet things aren’t all that bad, I do have teeth. I’m just hoping the company responsible creates these with the super luck factor installed and doesn’t forget to add the Card Fairy shield spells in them.

And I’m back to shoveling and moving tons of crushed rock/gravel and building paver walkways. My hands ache, so does my back, let’s not forget my glutes, my feet, oh SHIT! Let me just add pretty much everything has been out of shape for this kind of work since the old days at the old digs. This project is a late evening one when the sun has dropped…although the temperatures are getting more and more livable.

And then there’s Guitar Hero III, Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Fit and Boxing, and poker, poker, poker.
