The last post found me stuck in Pasco waiting for a flight out to Las Vegas. I had projected ‘home’ at about 1AM but that didn’t happen. Somewhere around 11:30ish, Allegiant cancelled the flight. We scurried down to ticketing to get in line for a hotel voucher and headed to the taxi line for our ride to the hotel. Of course I realize that airlines, transportation companies, hotels, and who-knows-what-all have deals worked out with each other. But I have to admit I was surprised to find we were heading for a hotel in Kennewick about 5 miles away. Especially since there were hotels right by the airport.
We were exhausted and the whole thing seemed darker than it probably was. As soon as we reached our room, sis got a voicemail that said the flight out for Vegas would be at 11:30ish AM the next day.
Some of the people we flew out of Vegas with were on the returning flight when we were stuck at the airport. Some of them even made it to the flight out the next day. This was an unscheduled run since Allegiant only flies on certain days and the scheduled evening flight was booked.
When we hit the air, there were approximately 10-15 seats open in the back. Here’s the downside, if you weren’t notified of the time the flight was leaving, the next one you could catch would be on Thursday night at 7:30. Some of those we had made friends with did not get notice, no voice mail, no text — they called the ticket number and found out when the flight was leaving.
I’d have a gigantic fit if I had missed that flight due to not being notified and had to stay over a few extra days.
I suppose all’s well that ends well. We had a great time at the reunion and everyone is well and kicking as high as can be expected since we’re all aging.
I have pictures of Dry Falls and Summer Falls and faces of family and the dogs that live at my oldest sis’s place in Moses Lake. Hopefully those will be going up soon.
I’ll be back tomorrow…
