back to the blog. I seem to be stuck in a never-ending cycle of doctoring. I’m off to Las Vegas tomorrow to see my gynecologist as a follow-up after the early November surgery. He’s not the surgeon, just going back for a checkup and then I won’t have to see him for a year. Although he’s young, energetic, nice demeanor, and seems very wise, I prefer not having to travel to Vegas for Dr. visits.
But I’m going next week, and the week after, and two weeks after that. Ain’t this fun? Yes, and no. I’m going to have a cataract removed from my right eye on the 10th of February, that’s in Vegas. Very early AM appointment (it’s hell leaving here at 6:00 AM) and then after the surgery, I have an appointment with the same Dr. that did the surgery, on the same day, about three hours after the surgery. Otherwise I would have to return the following day to see the Dr. so this helps cut some Vegas trips. On the 20th, I go for the same surgery and appointment schedules for my left eye. YES! I will be so happy to have it done. When it comes to follow-up appointments on both eyes for a checkup, I can have that done out here in the big city of Pahrump in their offices but the surgery is in Vegas.
I’m going to Vegas next week because I got a call from the eye surgeon’s office today and my eyes are ‘long’ if that makes any sense. That means I have to have a retinal clearance scan done on each eye before the surgery. Whoopee. It will take about two hours and drops for dialation, etc., etc., etc. Ain’t this just more fun than the law allows?
I’m looking forward to the day when it’s all done and my vision is clear again in my right eye. It’s the worst. I wasn’t sure they would even do the left eye yet – you know how they make you wait until hell freezes over – but they scheduled it so I’m going for the whole nine yards.
One of my Idaho brothers and his wife flew to Vegas for a three-day holiday so my next door neighbor sister and I and my son Dan went in on Tuesday for lunch and a visit. It was fun. We also had my great nephew Justin and his girlfriend join us. It was like a mini-family reunion of sorts.
On the Riot, I haven’t seen him since the last week of Christmas vacation, but he has called me a number of times. We visit about everything except anything that might touch on home life and what happened/where he moved to and any question from me gets shutdown immediately with “I don’t want to talk about it” or “Grandma!” when I say something he doesn’t want to respond to. The last two weekends he was supposedly going to spend them with me, almost as soon as he said, “Yes, it’s OK to pick me up,” he called me within a few minutes and said “No” he wasn’t coming. It’s crazy. I figure his mom is jacking with me since he doesn’t seem upset or phased by any of it. OK, I’d rather he wasn’t. He’s too young to get caught in all the emotional turmoil she dishes out.
I’ve been out to the desert with Scout and Dan on a number of occasions…it’s nice to be back in walking mode. We may finish the chain link fence project on the front and one side of the property that’s been in limbo for almost a year. Monte (sis’s beau) is the engineer in that department. We’ve kind of been waiting on him and it looks like we are starting to move forward. It will take about three weeks to complete (only working on weekends since Monte is now employed) and when it’s done, I will have a 6 foot high chain link fence clear around the property. Can’t wait!
Then it’s time to finish the house painting project I started before the November surgery. I have two sides to go to knock it all out. We’ve had some rain off and on this last month which slowed down that project. Hopefully within the next month, all of it will come together (in between all the Dr. visits) and I can scratch off a couple of projects that have been nagging at me.
Time to fly…the cobwebs are shaken off the broom and I’m ready to head out for the night.
