Lunch with a few of the besties

Friday was a trip into Vegas for a visit to the DMV, lunch with a few of my favorite people, and then off to Riot’s school to take him home with me for the weekend.  How could I forget to take my camera when we were going to meet for lunch – some of the old Pan Game crew. I didn’t take it though.  When the resident ‘take-your-photo-free’ person came around, Mark AKA Kram, jumped right on it.  It was fun, and funny, you would have had to be there to appreciate all of it.

Since the image manager on my blog is still out sick somewhere in cyber, this link will take you to the picture the photographer caught of us. Mark is back in town for the poker action, obviously, and will be staying for some of the WSOP events so that means Lindsey will be staying too. Sylvia Hart was out on parole from dealing the Bellagio games her days off and Marie stopped for lunch without Gary…they always have company or something going on. I was happy she made it since earlier in the week, she wasn’t sure she could.  We missed Carole, she had to work with a candidate (yah, she’s doing some political thing) and couldn’t get away in time to meet us.

Mr. Riot was in pretty fair humor.  His mom and dad got into a big fight the night before and he ended up screaming and having a fit. Good for him.  They should have to listen to him have a scream-out every now and then. And I think it was a nervous/emotional release for him because his whole attitude was different, a sunnier face, and no displays of anger…except when we had to do his homework.  Hee hee!

He watched me play a guaranteed tournament on the WSOP.com for a few minutes and when I was typing notes on a player, he asked what I was doing.  We started talking about poker, what a good hand was (he thinks I should go all-in every hand), and blinds.  He listened to me and then decided he’d write some notes of his own.  He grabbed pen and paper and went to town on two of us…he wrote about me on one. “She likes to fold a lot. She’s sneaky with A5 clubs. She can trick a lot of people.”

Right!  That’s my play in a nutshell.

So…I didn’t win. A few days ago I had a 2nd place finish in the same tournament — always looking for first, of course. And today I tried to rumble in a turbo satellite for a seat into the $15,000 Sunday Weekly Guarantee, it was no go, I got trampled by the rumble.

The subject of online poker is always a little sizzler in my corner of life.  I, of course, want it legalized, and to be playing against the rest of the world, not just the players located in Nevada. I follow the news about Sheldon Adelson’s campaign to make sure no one in the U.S. can play anything online. And the latest source of sizzle is coming from California where Sen. Dianne Feinstein didn’t bother mentioning to anyone that she was going to go co-sponsor a bill founded on a federal ban on internet gambling.

Feinstein has always been outspoken about fighting against online gambling but how does she get away with knowing some California residents and politicians, along with Indian tribes, are trying to push two bills in 2014 that would start the ball rolling for online gambling — and without even consulting them — just step up to the plate as a co-sponsor?

Did I ever mention I don’t like politicians? I think what Mr. Riot wrote about my play in his notes, “She can trick a lot of people,” would be the perfect read on Feinstein.

PokerWorks’ own PokerHack wrote an Op-Ed on Feinstein back in 2011.  The header picture in the article is a perfect shot of what I think portrays the perfect image of Feinstein.  And the article content is worth the read too!

What do you suppose it is that bothers some people about the rest of us playing cards? I don’t get it.
