First we had the horrible hateful winds and some rain, and it was cold, and more wind, but the wave of grasshoppers is the WORST type of weather one can imagine. They are migrating right now, by the thousands upon thousands, and I hope they are on their way to hell and all their little wingy-poos get burned off.
It’s almost a contest once you step outside to see if you can make it to your destination without getting hit in the side of the face, in the eye behind your glasses, your lips, your neck, and any place else they smack into when they are flying blindly in every direction. I had on a hoodie the other day and one managed to get inside the zippered jacket – UGH! But enough about them jumping everywhere, they are also devouring certain bushes and trees. I had to put a screen mesh completely over a couple of new black hollyhock plants, and I don’t know if they will survive the attack. But enough of the freakily fiendish grasshoppers.
I took Riot back to Vegas on Sunday and we went downtown to the Fremont Street Experience to hook up with dadparental for a late lunch. Got a few pictures too – which made me realize how I miss just going out strolling in Vegas and snapping photos. I may have to work on that.
It took me a bit of talking to get Riot to grab her hook and hang on for pictures, this was the third shot and he finally relaxed enough to smile.
This guy was strolling down the street wearing a spandex bikini – the back of his spandex reads: Naked Indian
Part of the ‘experience’ – street signs. And the Heart Attack Grill – if you weigh 350 pounds, you eat free.
The entry to the ‘experience’ from the east end and note the red shirt midway up in the first one – zip line rider!
It sounded like a beautiful noise and people were dropping change in his cup. I couldn’t help but wonder if he has to pay a fee to be there, just like the Kiosks that dot the street. The second picture, who knows what kind of noise it makes…and if it drags in $ for its owner…and better yet, who cares? It’s all part of the Sin City drawing card.
I dealt a tournament there a million years or so ago – and played a few satellite tournaments too.
Back in the world of the grasshopper takeover, these incredible cacti are in front of Springwood Labradors in Pahrump. The last one is now my pc desktop at high resolution and it’s incredible.
And always my favorite…the moon. She was out early this afternoon.
I’m pictured out for the night and need to get my rest to escape the freaky fiends tomorrow when I venture outside. G’nite.
Enjoyed the cati. Wasn’t certain about the various animals. Then realized that without one the other wouldn’t be.
You know those ‘various animals’ are a big part of the overview…where would we be without them!
On a side note, I posted this comment last week but just found it in the spam caught by akismet…
