So…I’m hanging out at home on the edge of dark and cold, really happy to be here instead of being in the middle of light and noise. I’ve been thinking back to more than one New Year’s Eve spent in the dealer’s box.
Really there are no fond memories that jump out at me. Most New Year’s Eves are hell holes for employees…go early, stay late, and put up with noise and party fun while you either wish you were there with them or somewhere else that is quiet. Las Vegas is expecting over 314,000 celebrating party people to hit this year. That’s one big damn party.
My 2012 welcome will be spent alone. I’m OK with that. This is the first time in two months that no one has been at my house but me and my dog. Heaven!!!! Have I mentioned that I like living alone? It may be only temporary.
2011 has been a rather different year for me. Some things I prefer not to mention here have transpired. It’s been eventful…but like all years, it just drifts off into another chapter of time that can never be reclaimed.
To all the people I’ve met over the years, to all the people I’ve yet to meet in the coming years, Happy New Year!
Well, alright then. Have a happy by yourself. Poke a gun barrel out the door and put holes in the sky, scare the dog.
Kidding aside. New Year, Linda.
Thanks Ten Mile. Happy New Year to you! Neighbors shot off some fireworks and that did Scout in. 🙂
A VERY happy New Year to you, Linda. I’ve been reading some of those poker variant articles as you’ve been putting them up. In retrospect, you really dragged some pretty good writing out of this ol’ cowpoke. Thanks for all your help.
Jan, you did a great job on those articles. I’m thrilled they are going up on PokerWorks! I hope you and yours are well and the New Year has a big smiley face painted on it from start to finish just for you! 🙂 double that!
