It is when I can connect, but… Who knows what happens to the little fairies and wizards that make computer software and applications work perfectly one day and then just stop the next? Did they have a bad day at the online tables? Drink too much the night before? Have a major blow up with their significant other? Or just decide they want to fuck with you?
I think/thought I had all bases covered so I can always connect without a problem. Don’t go thinking Linda, it can cause severe damage to your sensory system when you hit a dead stop and there’s no padded wall in front of you. I came home from the Rio on Tuesday, the ATT USB Mercury Connect air card went into the USB port and ended up with a mouthful of words that no grannie should know. For some bizarre reason, all of the chat engines I use worked perfectly but IE and FF kept coming up with slow connections and sometimes out and out failure to connect. Umnhhhh! I checked the connection settings, I checked the ATT Communication Manager (it’s the latest version), I rebooted, I pulled the damn air card out of the pc, I started over. It’s possible there was something haywire with the service itself but I just don’t think so. I checked my Windows update manager and found one for Microsoft Security Essentials and did it, the system had to reboot. Then I got the error message that I didn’t have a valid install of Windows 7. Kiss my grits Buckwheat…you too Microsoft…so off I went to the validation checker. So damned much fun I want to puke.
In the meantime I had work to do and was wa-a-a-a-a-y behind on everything. Then, some hours later and out of a clear blue sky, the whole thing cleared up and I can connect without an issue. I wish I drank now and then…especially now.
My little buddy Riot was at the dentist the last I heard today, having two of his molars pulled. UGH! He was an unhappy camper and had to go to a dentist that uses gas because he wouldn’t settle down – what do you expect from a Riot. I do hope he’s OK. I was supposed to be able to take him out to the desert homestead later today but that’s pending.
I’m trying to get a few things finished up so I can head to the Rio in a bit. I did an interview with Lubo on Tuesday and he’s playing in an event today and I’d love to get pictures of him at the table. I had so much fun interviewing him, I think I’ll save the voice recording forever…he’s a real kick. And seriously…you need to go read the whole thing and see how he qualified for a Main Event package. His first day of the main event is day 1c, next week. I plan on being there for pictures and he’s supposed to text update me off and on.
My days have been busy, my brain has been bruised and trying to hide from life, but other than that, things are going quite well. I do still wish I tanked up a lot of wine though on most days. I would start again if I thought I could deal with it, but alas, I’m a wimp.
