The PokerWorks Family tourney was last night. There were three of us left – close in chip counts – and I lost my internet connection. I play on the desktop and since all the upgrading to Windows7 and misery and time lost that went with it, I had decided not to download any poker software to my working computer. It took a minute for me to realize I had no connection.
That’s when I decided I would download Full Tilt Poker to my working PC via the ATT air card. Bad choice. The wind was a gut ripper too which didn’t help anything and the air card was going to take 6-7 minutes to download the program. I started the download and then just gave it up and canceled. I figured that MemphisMojo and Actafool49 could finish up just fine without me – and they did. Congratulations guys! The other alternative would’ve been to hit the dark with a flashlight and key and reset the router in sis’s computer room. Kee-rist! Wind howling and cold/dark thoughts went through my head for a millisecond and I was like, “Screw it! I’m out!”
The tournament finished out like this:
1 MemphisMojo
2 actafool49
3 desertblade
4 DontKnow
5 R J Squirrel 40
We started with 4 and picked up ‘fool’ a few minutes later. Kinda funny to me, he asked what the PokerWorks Family was, I explained, we asked if he had a blog, he said used to but not now, he said he thought we were playing holdem and then later said this was his favorite tournament, and he asked how he got in, I responded, “Late registration?” But what’s really funny about it is he didn’t ask for the password, he just got in the tournament. So….
djhomeschool showed up about 20 minutes late and said he wanted to play, his phone was set to remind him, but it didn’t…oh yeah…it just did. ‘Fool’ is probably Isildur1 and was bluffing us, he knew all along that he was reading PokerWorks and could hardly wait to play with the little stakes players like us. When Andrew AKA dj was chatting me from the rail, ‘Fool’ wanted to know who I referred to. I even went so far as to ask him if he had his observer chat turned off…’no.’
The PokerWorks Family let me down and didn’t show. Clearspine had kid things to do. Witches Brew was off doing brew things. Billy Monroe? Who knows…probably getting ready for his move out to Vegas.
Alas…MOI was Bubble Girl due to internet problems. I would at least liked to have fought for the honor.
When I crawled out of my semi-crappy sleep at 6 a.m., I logged on to Full Tilt to find the finale of the tourney and checked out Rush Poker, there were no players in .50-1.00 tables and only 47 in the 6 handed (I think it was .25-.50) tables. From a rush to a flat tire is how it looks. Everyone seems to be moving off to do other things.
Just an update on life:
- The wrist is still a teensie bit grouchy when moved in a certain direction and most of the time I wear a compression glove (and a brace when I go hiking).
- The trikke is still hard work but I’ve gotten the swing of the leg/arm motion (and definitely wear the wrist brace) – if the fucking wind doesn’t stop I’ll never make my 6 week goal with it – that is to make it clear to the end of my street without stopping. You can’t rollerskate in a buffalo herd and you sure as hell can’t trikke in a strong head wind.
- Tomorrow I’m off to the dentist – annual cleaning and x-rays and a tooth extraction…woot! No, not the evil tooth. A wisdom tooth that is doing nothing except setting a bit out of the alignment and why a dentist filled it some 15 years ago, is way beyond the realm of my dental knowledge. It’s coming out.
My truck driving sis has a birthday tomorrow…Happy Birthday Little Sister…she’s back on the road again – they left yesterday.
My cute boy Riot has his 6th birthday on the 27th of this month.
My oldest sister has a birthday on the 19th of this month. Happy Birthday Sis.
And the Witch just had a birthday yesterday. Happy Birthday dear friend!
And always remember that no matter how small, some things are really a work of art.
Things to do before I head out early for Vegas tomorrow. g’nite.
