Yes, there’s Bloggery things to write about – and lots of pictures to post – but more importantly, my beautiful Kayanna turned 13 on the 13th. She was born on Friday 13th in December, my mother was born on Friday 13th in December…
Kayanna spent much of her birth to 5 1/2 years of life with me, moving away to Missouri with her mom when her mom finally gave up Vegas to go back home. It’s a long story, some of it may/may not be chronicled on the pages of Tango but Kayanna has part of my heart with her wherever she goes. She called me in the very early a.m. of the 12th and actually visited with me for over a half hour. That, in itself, is quite remarkable…do you know how hard it is to get a young teen to carry on a phone conversation? It normally consists of me asking, “How’s school?” – “OK.” – “What ya been doing?” – “Nothing.” – my questions all answered by one word implying that things are OK and that’s enough said. So the phone call the morning of the 12th was a very welcome change from the norm.
Her mom has remarried and Kayanna now has a baby brother that’s about 2 1/2 years old and she dearly loves him. Her mom and step-dad have had some extremely rocky times for quite awhile and I have offered to have Kayanna come and live with me if it would help. Umnhhh…not sure I could raise a teenage girl without wanting to kill myself but in her case I would give it a try.
You must know that behind every sentence written – by most people – it is a small whisper of deeper content and happenings but they are left unsaid. Such is the case here, it’s another reality TV show but my girl seems to have wisdom beyond her years and I’m hoping it carries her through the tough spots…kee-rist…being 13 is a tough spot all by itself.
Happy Birthday Kayanna.
