The loop starts again…

somethings just bear repeating.  Like music.  You get a song caught somewhere, echoing around and around, jumping back into your immediate thought as soon as some other trivial thing that required your attention is gone.  My looper right now is this one:

Don’t read anything into it, there’s no rhyme or reason.  But isn’t that the best part of music?  There doesn’t have to be a reason, it is what it is.

My furnace decided to die the death of a rag doll that accidentally got drenched in bacon fat just before he hit the street and ran into the pack of pit bulls.  Got up Saturday and it was close to 40 degrees and frigging cold and no heat.  SWEET!  My little budster was cold when he crawled out from under the covers too.  I headed for the shed for a coupla Lasko heaters that live out there in the summer.  Sunday the budster went home and it wasn’t quite as nippy in the a.m.

Today is was colder. I turned on the Lasko heater and lit the propane oven as I chugged hot coffee…almost shivering.

At 7, Amy and I hit the desert for a little round-about and even after coming inside from the walk, I was C-C-C-C-OLD!  I reset all the breakers, pulled the fuse and headed for Checker Auto.  Naw, that woulda been way too easy.  I called Super RV here in the big “P” and hoped they had someone that would make house calls.  Some of these places DO NOT travel, you have to hitch up and go to them. They sent Vince out to see me within an hour.  He spent over 3 hours here, on the floor in the kitchen messing with the heater in its nesting place under the refrigerator, outside pulling the cover off and eventually pulling the unit out, taking all the skin off of his knuckles as he hit the metal edges in their tight fitting quarters.  *UGH!  I cringe at those dings in the hand*  I never did hear him swear.  He was up on the roof more than once, than the breaker box in the bathroom, then the thermostat, repeat….

Somewhere, somehow, since the time I turned it off last spring until now, there was a short coming off of the thermostat that went up to the air conditioner on the roof where it connects with the electrical of the furnace.  No, it’s not an electric furnace, it’s propane.  No, it doesn’t have a pilot light.  Anyway, he got it running and everything appears OK although even after he tested everything, he couldn’t find the short.  It had blown the fuses and wasn’t now.  The store waived one hour of labor and the service call charge – and it was still damned expensive.  Nice that they gave me a break though.  So here’s hoping I have heat from here on out.

I’d like to find some heat in a poker game but I have no desire to play right now.  Best to just ignore the fact that poker’s out there and let myself sleep through it for awhile when I feel that way.

Some days I think I’m so damned smart…other days I just don’t care…the loop starts again.
