A few things have become quite clear

Dogs rarely live past 11 or 12 years of age because they never get a good night’s sleep. Their bodies can’t take the terminal stress of waking and barking, prowling and growling, need to make sure everyone knows they are not sleeping well, that goes on constantly over a 24 hour period every day of their life.  Think about it.  If we never rested, we would expire at a much earlier age also.  I still have no sympathy for dogs and their shitty, sleepless habits.  I stayed at the old digs the other night, it was a night of torture and unrest, thanks to the dogs around the neighborhood – the dog that lives at the old digs had to sleep outside for the night because another dog needed boarding and they both weren’t allowed in the house so the two of them made the block party and kept it rocking.  And there’s no Sleep Number Bed there either.  *Sniff*

Blender blades are made at the exact angle and sharpness to stab holes in your fingers and never were meant to be washed other than swishing through hot water.

Little kids were programmed before birth to ask “WHY?” to every thing that comes into sight or within hearing distance.  Before then they learn that unless they call you by name before each thought they utter, your ears aren’t turned on and you can’t hear them.  And if you don’t answer each time they speak your name, even though you are looking at them, and there’s no one else around, your ears are definitely not working.  There is no greater toy than dirt, stones, and sticks.

Grandparents are guilty!  Lots of things slide by the realm of thinking logically…perhaps just not thinking.  Of course no teacher or parent would want to see a child skateboarding a slide.  So what was wrong with me as I took pictures of the boy having so much fun on the slide before school started…until the teacher stepped in.  The boy got the lecture and it wasn’t his first offense from the sound of it.  Grannie?  Slap my camera snapping finger!

Knowing lots of things live in the world around me, of all sorts and sizes, discovery is often times fun.  All of the previous ones I’ve found here are green – yah, the chameleon effect I’m sure – but this one boldly displayed itself in ‘desert landscape’ as it perched just off the Cats Claw on the block wall.

PokerStars rules the universe but the wind rules the desert, never yielding, coming and going at will, and definitely never affected by a disconnect.

The sun begins to drop behind the mountain but wants to let the world know that it was a great day and even though it is moving on for the night, it will be back in its full glory tomorrow.

Everything dies.  My last aunt, from Colorado, passed on Thursday.  She held a special place in my thoughts and heart and was my mom’s baby sister.  She had spoken with her son that lived with her, he left for a few hours, and came home to find her sitting in her chair as if asleep.  She was 80 years old and still actively working at Walmart.  To realize how a person interacts and affects your life is almost impossible.  It begins like the distinct, defined streams that trickle downhill to merge into a river and continues on until it is one great body that ripples with memories.

As night approaches, the moon brings peace and stillness to the world, allowing us to indulge in her beauty and step back from the mad rush of schedules and noise of another day.

All of us except the fucking dogs.

  1. So sorry about your Aunt, may you keep sweet memories of her tucked inside your heart…

The desert has amazing sunsets, glad you are there to capture them for us!

  2. Ten Mile – My posts are being rated now? EGAD! Dost thou not know they are for me? For my own insane purposes of holding them against me at a later date in life?

And cats? naw…we won’t even go there. It’s a long story and not seemly for one that doesn’t get into the weird laws that aren’t natural.
