Late afternoon found Kayanna and I arriving in the 110 degree heat. If it wasn’t that hot, it felt like it. There were things to do before we could escape to the air conditioned comfort of sis’s house – the coach was hooked up and cooling, but by no means cool. Damn it’s hot out.
When I left here I never had a glitch with backing up, hitching, and remembering all the small things that need to be done, even the long drive north went very smooth – except for the Salt Lake City nightmare which is always going to be that way…two hours of nonstop screaming freeway with parts of the lanes closed for construction and cars speeding past like they were trying out for the Indy 500. It’s a teeth grinder for me. Even pulling out of Kevin’s place to go drain the gray and black water tanks went very well. It was when I pulled out for home that I started to wonder if I knew what I was doing.
My brother’s driveway is so sharp that in order to park in the lower part of his yard, I have to drive down the county road about 4-5 miles, turn around, and come back, taking a right hand turn in with the coach. The turn around on the county road isn’t horrible, as long as you start it at the right time and no traffic is coming in from the 3 ways possible. I almost blew it and it started me off WRONG for the 1st day of the trip home. About 50 miles later I pulled into fuel and managed to not clear a corner, running the tires of the coach clear up onto a 6 inch parking divider. UGH! That just added to it. I was blasting myself for my insane driving by that time and really glad to pull over for the night in Missoula about 5 hours later.
Amazingly, when I pulled into home turf, I was just a few inches off of where I left from. The sewer hardline and everything didn’t even need an adjustment. Nice! In the meantime, the place is starting to look like home again and tomorrow’s going to be a long day. I’ve promised Kayanna a school shopping trip before she leaves on Saturday, so tomorrow is a day in Vegas, shopping galore, and then we get to hang with Riot for the night at the old digs.
Gotta go!
