As I got ready to head out of Las Vegas on Thursday, I stopped by the old digs and picked up Riot for a few days. It created a small dilemma. I had also planned to pick up my media pass for the WSOP and I knew I could take Riot down the hallways of the world’s biggest poker extravaganza but I didn’t want to trip into the media area with him to pick up the pass. I called Jennifer Newell and she agreed to stay with Riot for five minutes in the hallway while I got the pass.
After I got the pass, Riot and I saw – and shook hands with Scotty Nguyen. I got a hug and Riot shook hands with John Caldwell (ex editor in chief of PokerNews). I got a hug and Riot shook hands with Eli Elezra. And I got a hug and Riot shook hands with Andy Bloch. How cool is that? Eli asked me if he was a future poker player, I said he was a future WSOP main event champ. Riot was rubbing up on the pokerstars and he doesn’t even care about poker. I know that because when he sees me playing online, he barely glances at the monitor as he continues nonstop talk.
Card Runners kind of has the advertising locked up on the red carpet entry way, the blue banner hangs from the top of the building wall.
These were taken on Tuesday – the day before the Casino Employee Event. It is one of the few times at the Series that you see the quiet before the storm, empty hallways, registration is so open, it’s empty.
The heat is on in Vegas. It was warm. And the WSOP is now well underway.
Friday was a stay at home and chase Riot around the place as I tried to catch up with PokerWorks’ new look and a lot of work that I got behind on as the face change was taking place. Tomorrow will find me back on the road to Las Vegas.
