The sun has been in control of the temperature as of late in my little section of life. RV shops sell a nifty little foil coated bubble sheet – by the roll or however many feet you want, in two different widths – and it is the coolest of kewl for cutting to fit your windows and you don’t have to glue it or tape it in place, the foil part of it allows you to just push it into the edges and pull the blind down. Removable whenever you want to allow the light in, it immediately cools down the heat coming in from full sun exposed windows. It was one of my first purchases when I moved into the coach, and I cut the pieces to fit on all of my windows, and it’s a must as far as I can tell for any full timer in the desert. Plus, if you are a bit of a vampire and like to sleep during the day, it also is a light blocker and gives the feeling of night in your quarters. The downside is that if you are a day person, it deprives you of that wonderful light…ah…well, I’ll survive with it as I have full sun on one side in the a.m. and full sun on the other in p.m. I simply take it down on the side in the shade and enjoy a certain amount of light during the day. So…shields up!
Since I’m gearing for the summer heat, I also brought in my portable room air conditioner that has been in the storage shed since the end of last summer. It’s a must when temps hit over the 100’s for days at a time.
I did climb up on top of the coach yesterday and looked at the roof. A little over three years now of full summer heat and sun in Nevada and it looks really great. But…I’ll be checking with an RV shop here in the big “P” to see what their recommendation is. I don’t believe waiting until it looks like crap is the time to take action. Any RV owners out that that have some wise words for me?
The truck drivers got in and I invited them to the PokerWorks H.O.R.S.E. tourney. They joined us. Damn….my sis busted me…and everyone else. We had a nice little two table tourney with 10 players in attendance. The final score went like this:
PokerStars Tournament #143832841, HORSE
Buy-In: $5.00/$0.50
10 players
Total Prize Pool: $50.00
Tournament started 2009/04/19 21:00:00 ET
Tournament finished 2009/04/19 22:33:11 ET
1: Ickyone (Pahrump), $25.00 (50%)
2: grupper (Wichita), $15.00 (30%)
3: djhomeschool (Denton TX foo!), $10.00 (20%)
4: jbharshaw (FPO),
5: PokerWorks (Las Vegas),
6: cmacc85 (waycross),
7: madd 54 (Missoula),
8: nonSensible (Mason City),
9: PokerHack07 (Red Bluff),
10: clearspine (Boulder),
Clearspine was giving us a run down of how awful the game action was during the High Stakes Poker session he was writing about, djhomeschool was professing to be planting Oregano (I questioned that one too), cmacc85 was eating lasagne, PokerHack was fighting with her internet connection, jbharshaw must have lost his ‘super user’ status, and Ickyone was kicking everyone’s butts. It was fun. If you aren’t in the habit of joining in this little tourney every other Sunday, you should be. It’s easy on the pocketbook, quite relaxed and fun chatting. Thanks everyone for coming and playing.
On thoughts of King Riot (scroll that link for a great picture of Riot), he will be 5 years old on Monday, the 27th, and the 27th is also the day that Bellagio opened the newly remodeled poker room in 2005. We figure to do a party on the 26th since it’s a Sunday. He’s such a busy bee, I haven’t seen him in almost two weeks now, but will see him on Wednesday or Thursday as I have to make a trip into Vegas – one reason is to take a look at the ‘waxing’ of how my teeth will appear after I sit for hours on the 5th of May. UGH! Found out yesterday that the final work will begin on the 27th of May at 7 a.m. and it will be a mostly all day project. *sniff-sob* Poor Grannie! I believe I’ll just get a room in Vegas for the night of the 26th and the 27th. The World Series of Poker starts on the 26th. I may loiter at the Rio for a bit on the eve of the 26th. I know I won’t feel like driving in and out and getting up in the middle of the night to make it by 7 a.m.
Let’s don’t talk poker. If there’s a way for me to lose a pot, I will find it.
All in all, things are good, life is great, just chillin in Pahrump.
