The trip into Vegas yesterday was an ‘in and out’ and went pretty damn smooth. I have to admit I was surprised to see the ‘M resort and Casino on I-15 to LA at the St Rose Parkway Exit. Wheeler RV is just past that on Las Vegas BLVD, and I spent a bit of frustrated angry time out there the first year I had the coach. The whole freeway exchange has changed…but that was in progress the last time I was out that way. The casino surprised me. Why would it though? Drive down a street you haven’t been on in 6 months and something has been imploded, exploded, remodeled, destroyed and razed, or a whole new structure has been born.
Saturday will find me in Vegas playing a charity tournament at Red Rock Casino. It will be my first live tournament since the blogger fest in December.
Next week I have events planned on three out of the five day work week. I hope it turns out well. One of the events is the electric chair to have the temps and acrylic build up on my molars set into place. It will be a long day but hopefully worth the expense and energy spent.
The 17th is going to find me rocketing into the LV airport to pick up my boy and his wife and baby Rain. They’re going to spend a few days with me and baby Rain’s birthday is coming up at the end of this month. She’ll be a whole year old. Here’s the latest on Josh’s art:
This little beauty is a work of art too, created by Jennie and Josh…drum roll…Miss Rain!

The truck driving duo took an extra week away from the road and will be pulling out on Friday. It’s been very nice, having them here, and we’ve shared a few meals and some ‘land’ plans. We’ve been planting and hauling #2 gravel and Vickie’s been laying patio tile in the front yard where she created a really cool sitting area under the mesquite and salt cedar branches.
One night when Riot was out here, the four of us went to dinner at the Winery and he had his usual combat mode with his butter knife and a plastic hor devours sword with maraschino cherries on it (dump the cherries, he took one smell of them and didn’t want them). He plays well alone but we were his audience and he ate the star spotlight up. His voice dropped a bit and he talked in gravelly tones…like a true bad guy would. He was funny.
Vickie, Riot, and I made a bathroom trip. As I stood behind him in the stall and he did the pee thing, he was leaning over the toilet and said, “I can’t drop my sword,” it was in his mouth and no sooner did he say it than he dropped it into the toilet. He wasn’t having a fit about it but he wasn’t happy and he talked about it as we went back to the table. We asked our waitress for another one on the sly and she brought it. Damn, he was so excited! Would that the rest of us were that easy to please.
One thing that cracked us all up was at the end of our evening, the waitress brought the leather bound folder with the bill in it and started to lay it on the end of the table between him and Vickie. He reached for it. The waitress asked if he wanted it. He said yes. She pushed it to him and walked off. He picked it up, just like any person would that was going to pay the bill, opened it, looked at it, and emphatically stated, “Oh Crap!”
We all rolled on that one. Yah, I’m afraid he learned the term from me. When we play video games I use it instead of swearing. So we say, “Oh CRAP!” and ‘What the heck?” when we are questioning a ‘what the hell’ type of thing.

I’m playing a tourney right now, trying to figure out the best way to beat the tournament treadmill. I know the quadzillion player thing is such a long shot it’s unreal. Right now I’m in a $5.50 with 2r-1a. I made first break and took the add-on.
Earlier today I played a 7 Stud 8 game with Darus Suharto, yes he came down to my limit $3-6. Aint’ it grand!
