Due to a strange and threatening noise from MOI, directed at life changing patterns in my son’s direction, my budster Riot may be spending a month with me. That is something that time will tell for me as I do like my time alone and am not sure how I will deal with child tending on a 24 hour a day basis for a month – with a few days break now and then where he stays with mom or dad for a few days. I would take any one of my grandkids if need be – to raise them, if it came to that – but the point is, I don’t want to. I like having my time with them and then they get to go home. Besides, I have already paid my dues and spent my time in the trenches.
Early A.M. I headed into Vegas to pick him up. I talked to him on the phone yesterday and it’s a real treat to hear, “You come and pick me up Grandmom!” from a small voice filled with incredible enthusiasm. So I did! We picked up a pair of hiking boots for him because we are going to hit a few minor hikes while he’s with me. He’s extremely particular and fanatical about what he wears…amazing for an almost five year old. He has a pair of slip on tennies with dead heads all over them and those are his favorite shoes. He won’t even consider another pair. They ain’t hikers though and I convinced him he had to have a pair like my boots if we were going to go walking in the desert. He’s also convinced we need guns (to shoot the bears with), gloves, boots, water, and anything else that pops into his head as he talks hiking. We’ve had a lot of ‘bear’ talks as I convince him they are asleep now because it’s winter. Everything that lives – except people is followed with the statement, “They will bite you!” Umnhhh! Yeah, we are part of a bear’s food chain.
It’s rained the last few days. Today was incredible, a frog strangler from the time I hit Las Vegas all the way home, except over the ‘hump’ where it was snowing and there was about an inch on the ground – in a heartbeat – when I came through and it looked to be a doozey piling up. Coming down this side it rained all the way home and kept pouring down after reaching home. There are puddles everywhere in the silt and it is one of those stay in the house the rest of the day afternoons.
Funny because a few days ago there was no wind, it was 75 outside and wonderful.
Time to think dinner for a little boy…see ya!
