how you can sit in a holding pattern waiting for some things to happen – some of them hinge on another – before the flood gate opens and the insane rush starts. But it has started. Everything is happening at once.
Monday hit and I went in for the Nuclear Schmuclear stress test. Nice that they schedule 4 of us for the test at the same time – planning to over lap each with the different phases of the tests – and all it appears to do is make the patients run out of patience as they sit with a creepy IV needle stuck in their arm for over an hour, waiting in the back regions of a medical office with no TV, music, or magazines worth reading. Hell, they don’t even serve cocktails.
So it was…wait in the outer office/admitting area for 20 minutes, go back to the testing area and wait 15 minutes, insert IV, wait 20 minutes, get injected, wait 15 minutes, go lay on the scanning table for 14 minutes, go back to the sitting area and wait 20 minutes, go to another room to get hooked up with electrodes, get BP taken, step onto tread mill, watch your heart rate on the monitor jump through the ceiling as the incline raises automatically on the treadmill (seriously, I’m just kidding on the jump through the ceiling thing), get injected again, step off of treadmill, test BP again, go back to sitting area for another 15 minutes, go back to scanning table for another 14 minutes, go back to sitting area for 20 minutes waiting for the technician that does echo scanning. Echo scan, ultrasound of liver and gall bladder, get the hell out of there after 3 1/2 hours…finally I can have a cup of coffee. Damn! No coffee/caffeine for 24 hours before the test, BRUTAL!
They say if I don’t hear from them, nothing is wrong. So that means that no news really is good news but in today’s mixed up mess of communication, I won’t be leaving that to chance. I’ll just make another Dr.’s appt.
That test out of the way, I figured to hear from the mortgage broker at any time that all the paperwork would be ready on the ‘sister’s joint property venture’. Not a word.
The Steed needed it’s 35K check up/tune up so I dragged my son and his son out to taxi me home after I dropped the Steed off – that was Tuesday. I woke up about 6 a.m. that day. Riot wanted so badly to stay at Grandmom’s. I said yes. We ended up taking a nap and during nappy time, the title company called me and sure enough, the papers were ready…but…I was told originally that I would sign papers in Vegas, turns out I had to go to Pahrump. The plan was to do it on Wed. Son came back to pick me up at 5 p.m. to get the Steed – nice to have wheels.
I ended up keeping Riot for the night on Tues. and Miss Katie came to spend most of the night with me too. It was a kick having both of them together but that means granny doesn’t get a damn thing done other than kid sit. That’s what I did and I enjoyed every second of it. The downside was back up early on Wed. to hit Pahrump by 1 p.m. for paper signing. And it’s hot. It’s so damn hot here right now that spending even a few minutes outside is brutal. Papers signed, the realtors thought it would be a great idea if potential buyers had to sign a release for carpal tunnel, makes perfect sense to me. I had Power of Attorney for my sis and I had to sign a sentence on each line – no printing – sign. WTF! Darian and Riot made this trip with me too.
After I got back to Vegas I sat at my credit union for over an hour while waiting to talk to a rep. Nothing resolved by almost 5 p.m. and traffic was hell. Nice to step into the cool, dimly lit place I call home after the heat and glare of the day.
Tomorrow will be a busy day also, things to do that have been left undone. Soon the papers will be recorded for the new property and it will be time to pick up keys, get in touch with a ‘gravel hauler’ and see how many tons of rock have to be hauled in to fill the silt road bed we want, get the propane company out to set up a tank, visit the power company and all those other fun things that need to happen when you’re getting ready to move. The problem is I’m not ready to move yet. Miss kayanna is flying in from OK on Sunday, lots of things happening in Vegas and family here that we want to hang with while she’s here. A million miles of road on my map and I’m sure it will all work out but it still appears to be a bit overwhelming right now.
And the WSOP rages on. I can’t even get there from here.
