My son and I had a recent discussion about poker and getting big hands busted. BTW, he’s playing a lot of free rolls on Ultimate Bet and wanted to play some on Full Tilt after we had discussed Chris Ferguson’s run from -0- bankroll to over $10,000. The reason he’s not playing them on Full Tilt is that it’s almost impossible to register before the 2,000 mark cut off is met – registration is over in a heart beat from the time it is open ’til the free roll is full. Chris might be the reason they fill up so fast, if not, the Full Tilt techs must have made sure he was registered before everyone else got their finger on the mouse button.
As we were discussing poker, tournaments, bad play, free rolls, and more, I managed to crank him up a notch when I asked, “Do you think there’s something wrong with people when they become frustrated with poker and wonder why they always get big hands beat?”
He said that he just knew that when his hands held up, he was going to get paid off and no one should even think about the fact that they get beat, it happens all the time.
Obviously I told him I was one of those people, that sometimes I could just play through it and keep looking at the future and other times I could only wonder why????
Damn…it’s fun to have a son to talk about these things with, especially when they are a player and in tune with themselves and their game. I need a lot of work.
This is one serious side of life. Wayne chatted me about this incident recently. “Billy” was playing at Bellagio one night when Wayne and I walked through. Billy used to play a lot at the Palms. I knew his face (when Wayne visited with him at a $20-40 Stud table), but not as a regular player on my shift. It’s all creepy, and sickening, and there’s no upside. My sick sense of humor found me telling Wayne that if Wayne knew any of Billy’s friends, to stay away from them.
Hopefully all the players pictured in these pages are still alive and well.
All right people, more of my sick sense of humor, if you see something you like here at Tango, please click on a banner and download the software, play the game. Someone has to help pay my expenses for spending hours finding these great shots and putting them up. If you don’t see anything you like, get the hell out of here and go somewhere else. *no joking*
Hi Linda,
Have you been avoiding WSOP on your blog of late? Could you create a post about the November Nine and the One Drop going on at our end? And don’t forget to link the post to us.
Best,
Andrew
