Like hell I am. I have put off everything until the last minute and then as life has a way of doing, The Last Minute, jumps up and kicks you in the ass and punishes you for not taking care of things a long time ago. I had the perfect game plan, must be the opposing team had a better one and slipped it into high gear just as I called Bellagio tonight to see if I could take the night off (it’s been hellery slow) rather than coming in and signing the E/O and leaving after an hour anyway,BOOM! Opposing team scores. I almost made it home to start packing and going through my list at about 8 p.m.ish butmy phone rang. A friend in need had to have some help, only problem is they live clear across town, up Tropicana by Durango. I, on the other hand, live out on Boulder Highway.
I couldn’t leavemy friendstranded for two weeks while I was in Aruba so I said I’d be there. Of course there was an accident at Tropicana and Paradise, blocking only the lane going east…that’s me. All of us had to headleft for anotherroute. I went through the airport tunnel, caught the freeway back into Vegas, and exited on Tropicana heading east. The opposing team scores again…I lost a half hour of precious time. I spent three hours at my friend’s place, managed to help with what I could, and headed for home, heading west on Tropicana. Another traffic accident just east of the Strip, right on Trop, right in the traffic lane heading west, but not in the lane heading east…Detour time. Aghhh! Another time loss of 30 minutes…screw you, opposing team.
I managed to slide into home at midnight, not the way I had planned at all, and so damn tired I want to S-C-R-E-A-M. Sure, I know you’re thinking that I have some time tomorrow before my flight leaves at 11:20 p.m. and I wish I did. But I really don’t. In the a.m. I have one more of those wonderful Dr. appointments across town, and then an appointment to do the ‘corn row’ thing in my hair so I can show those island people that U.S. beauticians can braid too, then arranging a few minutes for last minute chores, my son picking me up for the trip to the airport and we are stopping to pick Wayne up (hell…he ain’t even close to being in our neighborhood) and then off to the airport. Sure, I’ll make it. But I would have like to have made it with a few hours of sleep and some serious chilling going on before I left for the airport. Oh well.
This may be my last post from U.S. shores for a few weeks. If I hit an airport that has free wifi, as in Miami where I have to lay over for a week…ok only for about four hours, I will post from there, if not, it will be after I land in Aruba. Andwe’ve registered and checked in, made a trip to the grocery store for alcohol and a few food items…well it might be the next day.

Bon Bini – and I hope I can call for Time and then drop kick the opposing team into the nickel seats…damn time eaters.
