I’ve been the Queen of Slackers when it comes to work this week. Wish I could marry myself to the Dealer’s Box and just go in and work an eight hour shift but my butt’s still dragging and my mind isn’t into it right now. I still have too many irons in the fire, too much to do, and am suffering a ‘tired over’ from the last few weeks of yard work and sleep deprivation in preparation for the Clan Jam.
Tonight is my Friday in the Poker Pit, but before I get there (in a rush to sign the E/O list – *chuckling*) I have some housework to do, clothes to fold, workout with a friend that comes three times a week, and a visit to another friend’s house to see why they can’t connect to the internet with a cable modem. Just another day in the life of Superwoman.
On another note, I have had the opportunity to meet quite a few people lately – in person – that I’ve met through emails – readers here. It’s a rush and good for my soul as they are all people that appreciate me. Ain’t no down side to that.
Brian from Boston was in the 1s in a $30-60 H game when I cruised through there a week ago. Enjoyed the short time I had to visit with him while I dealt him a straight that busted off A-A for the 3s. And when Brian picked up A-A a few hands later, they went down in flames to a straight held by the 5s. He’s young and full of energy but he took the win and the beat without a jerk or twitch. Nice table presence, plus he’s a cutie!
At the Clan Jam, I met Than, Jason, Charlie, Rachel, Carol, and Lydia for the first time. They were all fun and add a huge plus to the upside of poker. Chad, Jason, and Charlie came into Bellagio during the week and caught me on a ‘first break’. We visited about the Jam and the people. Jason told me it was amazing how nice all the people were that were gathered at my house for the Jam.
I retorted, “Well of course they are. I hand pick them and I only hang out with nice people. If I want to be around assholes, I can always come here,” as I gestured at the poker room. *huge laughs*
In truth, the people in poker games and rooms are not really assholes, there a few rotten apples but most of them are fun and make my time at work quite enjoyable and profitable…but it sounded so damn good.
I met Mark as he cruised by me in between game pushes…he introduced himself. Thought I might see him someplace else during the night but it didn’t work out that way.
Dave Roletto, from Oregon, introduced himself (we’ve emailed) as I was pushing into another game. He brought me a bottle of wine…what a guy! I haven’t sampled the wine yet as I’m waiting for the weekend to savor the first breath of the bouquet…umnhhhh. Dave was sparkling with enthusiasm for poker and me. *Super rush!* I’ve looked for him in the room the last few nights too but haven’t seen him and it might be because of the E/O thing I have going on.
The world is full of wonderful people. I just wonder how many of them I will have a chance/opportunity to meet before I deal my last Down and play my last hand of cards…hopefully a zillion or so.
See you there!
