Teaching a child

I’ve read a lot about Phil Hellmuth’s antics at the WSOP during this session, mainly because PokerWorks writer Aaron Hendrix appears to have a love to hate relationship with Phil and all of his noise and insanity. Aaron finds a lot of useful gossip type of trivia to throw in the mix of the overall WSOP happenings and Phil is in almost every post.

This from the latest media report sent out from Nolan Dalla:

On the final hand of Day Five, Phil Hellmuth was given a one round penalty by the Tournament Director. He violated a WSOP rule which forbids berating another player. Following a verbal warning, Hellmuth continued to criticize his opponent following a major confrontation. Accordingly, he was penalized for breaking the rule. Hellmuth will be forced to sit out the first nine hands of play on Day Six.

Extra! Extra! Hellmuth Starts Day 6 in the Penalty Box

Everyone thought Phil Hellmuth ended the day just with a blow-up and a warning, but that’s not the case. He continued to berate Cristian Dragomir for several minutes after the last hand we described and after floorperson Robbie Thompson issued him a warning. That prompted Thompson to summon supervisor Steve Frezer to the feature table. Frezer listened to Thompson’s description of the situation and then assessed Hellmuth a one-orbit penalty to start Day 6.

Never a dull moment when Hellmuth’s around.

And this from TassieDevil at PokerNews.com:

Hellmuth Ends the Day With a Blow-up

Cristian Dragomir opened with a raise to 80,000 before Hellmuth made it 255,000 to go from the small blind.

“I hope he doesn’t have aces,” said Hellmuth as Dragomir asked for a count. After a few moments, Dragomir made the call.

They saw a flop of {9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Hellmuth checked to Dragomir, who thought for a moment before firing a healthy bet of 300,000. Hellmuth sighed in disgust before folding {A-Spades}{K-Hearts} face-up on the table.

Matusow laughed and said to Dragomir to show the bluff, and Dragomir flipped {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}! Matusow and the crowd roared in hysterics as Hellmuth jumped out of his seat and stormed around the room berating his opponent for calling his reraise with ten high.

“Listen buddy, you’re an idiot!” screamed Hellmuth. “This is the Main Event and you are the worst player in history!” he continued as the crowd was loving every moment of the blow-up.

Dragomir’s entourage continued to cheer as Hellmuth continued the barrage. The TD stepped in and issued a warning to Hellmuth to settle down before Dragomir stood up out of his chair to put Hellmuth back in his place with a cry of, “Enough is enough!”

Fortunately for both players the clock ticked over to the end of the level, and the end of the day’s play to settle both players down. They eventually shook hands and began to bag up their chips as Mike Matusow summed up the situation best as he shouted, “Thank God for Phil Hellmuth! Thank God for Chris Moneymaker!”

What a way to end the day!

And Aaron adds a bit more depth to the story in his latest article.

Does Phil really get coaching on the side from TV promoters that tell him to behave badly? Or is it just his massive ego and the fact that he normally gets away with it that keeps him out of line unless he wins the pot? One can’t help but wonder if he’s been taught to behave badly. I can picture him and his wife, rolling on the floor of their home on a night after tournament play…not the sexually aroused rolling on the floor…just holding their sides in laughter as they recount his antics and she grades him on it; which would, in turn, add to more laughter.

When I dealt my first Aruba event, while I was on a four hour break, the dealers told me that Phil had taken a beat in a hand and threw himself down on the floor and started complaining about internet players. I just busted out laughing. My comment was, “Oh my GOD! If he ever does that when I’m dealing to him, I’ll fall out of my chair laughing.” I would!!!

Away from the Phil scene, there’s an article on the index page concerning one little hottie that’s very much in contention for a bracelet in the WSOP main event. Since the cms is not allowing me to post a picture in its entirety, because it has a mind of its own and crops everything in a shitty fashion, I felt it would only be justice to show the picture of Tiffany Michelle as it came to me…gotta love those gals that play poker in their Victoria Secrets tops.

And the chip leader as of last night, Mark Ketteringham, I’ve dealt to him a lot of times at Bellagio. Level headed, non steamer, friendly, knows how to play poker…what else can one say?

I’m outta here for the airport, my beauty queen is on a plane and will be touching down in about two hours.

  1. Hope all is well

As usual, poker again proved how corrupt it is, Phil DID NOT have to serve the penalty – whined his way out of it – some icon – just a big immature, spoiled, baby.
