Thunder storm + Dog = All Hell

WARNING:  No poker content! My poor dog had an almost 14 hour tiz running over the thunder and lightning show the desert put on last night.  Personally, I enjoyed the show and the storm.  But she was sedated…I have those sappy pills that cost around $1.10 each and she got dosed pretty good twice and still woke me up after I slept a few hours.

Her eyes roll around in her head, her ears are peeled back, and she’s trying to get in my hip pocket.  I do feel bad for her but it also gets crazy for me.  It’s been a strange year for weather out here in the desert.

The super moon is still out, lighting up the sky and throwing a light over the land.  I love the moon.  I simply love the moon.

Due to strange weather and bad sleep patterns I’ve managed to miss this last week of early morning desert walks.  I hate that.  Not sure right now how to adjust my hours to get back into any kind of walking plan.

Another Dr. appointment this Friday in Vegas and one out here in Pahrump on Monday and I may find out I’m going to have surgery.  SWEET — NOT!  But if it comes to that, OK, I’ll just roll through the knifing and puke my guts out when I wake up.  Can’t stand the aftermath of the anesthesia, I’m so dizzy I can’t stand it, almost like when I was young and dumb and got really drunk and couldn’t focus or stop the world from spinning. .

Life used to seem so uncomplicated but it seems to get worse each year.  I’m fumbling around in a world that makes no sense most of the time now.  People are the problem.  Yah, I know, I’m part of that group. I start to feel stressed as soon as I know my regular pattern has to change.

Sad news about Robin Williams.  Sad for the world and his family and sad that we sometimes face issues that we feel we simply can no longer tolerate or overcome.

Doyle Brunson turned 81 yesterday.  What a walking history book of poker that man is.  When I dealt to him regularly and Chip Reese was still alive, one night when I slipped out of The Box heading for the next game, they had been talking old times.  I tapped Doyle on the shoulder and asked him if he’d let me write his life story.  He wasn’t rude, just noncommital and I went on to the next game.  It didn’t happen in case you didn’t notice.

Check out his birthday cake here.

My view of the super moon last night with a dainty sprinkling of cloud cover behind:

In the winter squash and canteloupe vines, every time I water, a zillion or so stink bugs come crawling up on the leaves.  After the rain storm last we had last night, when I went out late PM today, one of the vines had a leaf covered with them.  UGH!

And that’s got to be a very small percentage of the army that lives underneath the vegetation.  The mantids must be having a heyday on a stink-bug buffet.

I’m out.  G’nite.
