Off and running to nowhere

I have made a mini-resolution, one that I hope I can commit to and keep going.  I’m going to try (I know, try never did anything) and post every day for 30 days.  If I fail, it won’t be any different than it is now.  If I succeed, I may make it a habit and simply stay with it.  Since my blog is personal and not always poker oriented, it is not recommended for those of you who are strictly cruising for poker content.  ’nuff said.

The weather this year has been totally off for summer in the desert.  Right now it’s H-O-T but it’s been a very mild year.  The temps at night have dropped down into the 70s – 80s which is very unusual.  We’ve only had about 7 or 8 nights that it stayed overly warm all night long.  Yes, I love it this way.  We seem to have had more wind than the law allows.  Yes, I hate it that way.

I now have canteloupe ripening and appearing everywhere from the seeds I planted a few months ago.  The winter squash has finished and there are about 15 stashed in my cupboard for having with meals that include breakfast (substitute for hash browns), spaghetti (substitute for noodles), and soups.  It’s even great to heat and eat with salt and pepper.

It’s the time of year when the climate stress begins to show on some of the trees and bushes here in the desert — the domesticated kind — hell, the ones in the desert always look that way unless we have a real rainy spring or fall.

Dan, Riot, Scout, and Moi have hit the desert early AM for the last few months.

Played very little online poker at the WSOP.com and had a major issue with my ISP which showed me as being out of NV and in Utah.  My internet popped off for about 15 minutes and when it came back up (it’s air, through a dish), I was routed thru some phone company in Utah instead of Jab in NV.  It took a number of phone calls to my ISP and emails to WSOP support to finally get it straightened out…over a week.  Found out that my ISP could give me an IP address that shows in NV, but it took a number of attempts and my bro-in-law Monte calling them and having a fit before it got worked out.  When I glitched out to show Utah as my ISP, so did the other two that I know of that have the same internet service, Digis.net.  Who knows how many others got swapped out too.  Naturally, if they aren’t required to be geo-located in NV for a service, it probably makes no difference to anyone else.

A few pictures before I call it an evening.

Who would have thought that an artichoke would have such beautiful blooms, or that an early AM sunrise in the desert would be filled with all that lavender, or that flower on the squash (with bees pollinating) would be such a gorgeous yellow, or that creepy wind spider sitting on my hand rail would remind me of a few poker players I’ve dealt to and played with over the years.  Oh well…use your imagination.

Until tomorrow…I hope.
