Crawling

That’s how it feels.  I’ve managed to accomplish a lot but it still feels like the stack keeps getting bigger and the small bits and pieces hacked off the sides and edges never diminish it much.  Ah, yes…the rambler.  That’s me.  It’s hard to lead a topic in a certain direction when I don’t even know what the topic is…how could I possibly know the direction then.

But on the upside of smooth, I did get my taxes done.  I have paid all my tax-til-death-do-us-part to date, and that’s a huge relief.  I spent another 40 minutes on hold with the IRS last week just so I could confirm that they got the final payment on my 2011 taxes that apparently showed up at their office almost a week ago but wasn’t showing in my online account yet.  It can take up to two weeks for it to post according to the person I spoke with.  Ain’t that sweet?  Go figure.

I hate the bullshit of being on hold, leaving messages that never get returned, and even the thought of talking to someone in tech support (it’s like the government) makes me want to scream.  I went through the run-around in trying to get an appointment for a vision test – three different phone calls to different places that routed to me another place. Gotta love it!

The weather is fantabulous right now. A little overcast, warm, but not too warm, and the nights are chilly. This year has been really off the norm for weather in this region – not the wind, that demon from hell is always a given out here – but temperatures overall have been much lower than usual by this time of year. I still run around in a hoody most of the time in my house. It’s much cooler in here, especially when I get up in the morning, but that will all change soon.

I am playing WSOP.com and I’ve run into many of the same players – over and over and over – but then, with the size of the field coming in from only Nevada, I’d expect that. I no longer play at Ultimate Poker because I can’t stand the software. Along with that, the guarantees, traffic, etc., isn’t nearly as good at Ultimate as the WSOP.com. Call me crazy here, but I still have visions of nightmare’s past when a poker site starts with the word “ultimate.”

When I dealt the Aruba tournaments, management gave away gift packs to which the dealers were entitled to also. I have a really great, long length, pull over hoody and I love it…except it says “Ultimate Bet” on it. I wonder if walking through a store in Pahrump with that on might get me into trouble by anyone that has money lost forever in Absolute and UB poker. I know, I know…it’s reaching, but I’ve ran into three people out here, more than once, that I used to deal to and play poker with in Las Vegas, so who’s to say it can’t happen.

And what about the report that Howard Lederer and Chris Ferguson are going to play the WSOP this year? We ran it in the News Flash a few weeks ago. I really wonder at that logic in that move — even if it’s a rumor only — it makes one wonder as to if they fear for their physical health in the parking lot or any place that might not be patrolled by security. I’m not beating them with a guilt-stick, just say’n that it’s not something I would attempt until I was 90 or so if I was in their shoes.

By then, the younger crowd would be wondering WTF those old codgers were and if they knew anything about the game of poker…picture it!
