Kickin in the desert heat

The weather has been too strange, it’s about 70 out right now, nice light breeze, the windows are open and it feels great.  We had a ‘heat wave’ warning last week.  It was 112 or so for a few days, but the nights cooled off on all high-heat days except one.

We’ve had hellery hateful winds but that’s not uncommon.  The cooling at night is really unusual since it normally heats up by about the middle of May and stays that way, barely cooling down a few degrees at night. I love the cool night air and wish it would stay this way forever…but I’m sure we’ll soon see the end of it and the air conditioner will be on full bore for the rest of the summer.

My granddaughter Kayanna lives in Broken Arrow OK – she’s 16 now BTW – and they had tornados whipping through there a few weeks ago so I shouldn’t complain about the wind I suppose.  Her family had to hit the basement a few times and wait out the winds but they were safe and their house stayed intact.  Phew!

Nope, still haven’t made it to the WSOP.  I will though.  In the meantime, I’m writing tournament reports and news for PokerWorks – not fast enough, but who can ever catch up with anything?

I haven’t returned to Ultimate Poker, I feel as though I don’t have the time to commit to even playing Sit N Gos right now.  Soon, soon.

I went to Vegas and picked up three grandkids and my son Dan on the 7th, it was cook, clean, answer to “Gramma” at least 4,000 times, bathe and dress and brush teeth, cook, clean, do dishes, repeat, repeat, repeat until I took two of the grandkids and Dan home on Tuesday.

That was the dreadful day I tried to get in to see an IRS agent.  Phooie! To add a note to that story, I called the national numbers for personal and business on Friday: “We’re sorry but due to circumstances beyond our control, we cannot take your call at this time,” or some horseshit that resembled that.  I called the 702 number listed on the ‘my-irs-page’ and it takes you through what you can accomplish at the local IRS office – talking to a real person at that number is not an option – but it did say that due to budget cuts the IRS offices would be closed on the 14th and, I believe it said, the 20th.

Budget cuts? Let’s stop sending all of our $ overseas and start using it in the U.S for hells sake.

Riot has been here with me since the 7th and could be here until the 1st of July.  Enjoyable, but hectic too.  Sometimes there isn’t enough time in the day…oh yeah, that’s standard for me.

If you haven’t followed the online poker scene, this is one for the record books.

“The 100 billionth hand hit in a $0.02/$0.05 No Limit Hold’em 6-Max game and “microulis69” held the winning hand which sent $103,800 into his player account.”

PokerStars run up to 100 billion hands was a huge event every time a milestone hand was hit or coming up.  Imagine buying in for $10 or so and cashing out for $103,800…it’s the lottery all over again, but what the hell, someone was going to win it.  A lot of other players made money when that hand was dealt too.  Read about it here – and if you can play at PokerStars (US excluded), there’s more coming up to keep you at the tables.

It’s time for z-z-z-z-z-z land. G’nite world.

  1. Let’s see: seven days. You should be awake by this time. Is the news from the WSOP really that terrible?

    Kidding.

From the looks of it the tourneys go smoothly. The pro’s seem dominate – although the WSOP is for profesional gamblers. The “for funsees” and the serious amatures are needed to fill the cash registers.

I noticed that MOJO is spending time out that way this year and seems to be enjoying himself.

Care, Kiddo. Just stopped to check in.
