Back in the big city of Pahrump

The capital of most of the life that I now know, Pahrump, was a welcome sight when I hit the ’14 miles to Pahrump’ sign after swinging down off of the hump.  An accident/single car rollover up ahead sent a patrol car speeding past me on the freeway.  I went on by without scoping out the scene, an ambulance was already there, makes me feel a bit weird, and definitely hopeful that the person/s made it OK.

I spent the night with Riot and dad parental after landing in the convection oven I fondly call Las Vegas on Friday night.  The morning after found me trying to survive an allergy attack of the Las Vegas Valley…I guess that was it.  I had bags under my eyes that were 8 weeks long and my head felt like it was wrapped in gauze reinforced with cotton balls.  I had a neon headache…my reference to an allergy related sinus headache as it appears to hit a peak and then drop to start building all over again and reminds me of a flashing neon sign that blasts through the night when you are trying to sleep on a shitty bed in a hotel room that smells like the last occupant and window coverings that aren’t.

I made home about 3 p.m.  The coach was intact, the heat was…well…hot as I unloaded everything from the last two weeks of fun in cooler climates and prepared to set up my daily routine again.  It seemed like a million years ago when I first started loading up and preparing to hit Vegas to spend some time at the Rio for the WSOP.  Nothing seems real at times…or is it just me?  I’m sure it isn’t…I think everyone goes through it.  I have since spent a few days at home, putzing around outside to do a bit of hand water, think about projects I’ve wanted to complete for my front yard area, and admired the foliage growing on the block wall behind the coach.  How in God’s name that variety of vines, tree, plants manage to stand next to and climb up that block wall and the heat it emanates is beyond me.  The wall takes all of the setting sun and just doesn’t cool down for hours, yet the green is still vibrantly green.  NICE!  There are bloomers out there too, adding a nice splash of color to the wall.

The tangled web of mom and dad parental has progressed mightily since I’ve been away.  SHE went to jail for domestic violence.  Ain’t that a corker?  It’s a Reality TV Series all by itself.  I don’t believe Riot will be staying with me through the month of August – as of now it appears that way anyway.

I played the Double Deuce on Full Tilt Poker yesterday.  I’m still in awe of how hands come down and people make the calls they do…and then when they make their hand, how they don’t try to extract value for it.  I got the ugly beat in three hands almost back to back and I was out about 900 out of the money.  *Sniff*

Back in Oregon, Jennie (Josh’s mate) has a cat born of a litter of alley cats that were all dark and gray and this cat belonged to Jennie’s mom (I think that’s how she got it).  It’s completely white, one blue eye, and one green.

There a lot on my menu still to accomplish today.  Laters
