Happy Fathers Day

To all of you men – you may not have had children but at some point in your life you’ll get tagged as a father figure or not and fill a role that could be described as fatherly and a lot of you sired children or the world wouldn’t be as populated as it is today – Happy Fathers Day to all of you.  To all of the women of the world that raised children alone without a man to help out, this is to wish you a Happy Fathers Day too.

It’s poker day in Las Vegas, the world is out in full force to claim a bracelet and make their mark on the walls of poker fame.  And some online poker sites are running their last opportunity for the online players of the world to pick up their WSOP seat.

All the big names seem to play every event, but that could just be me seeing their faces every time I go to the Rio.  I don’t know how they do it.  Tom Dwan I can understand, he’s young, got a lot of energy for the game, and he could make millions if he snags a bracelet; some of the other players that have been around for years, I wonder how they have the stamina to attack the fields every day.  It has to be mind numbing by the second week.  Perhaps one day I’ll find out just how much of it I could take with a daily dose of it.

I was in the Rio on Friday when the Seniors Event kicked off.  Oklahoma Johnny Hale really had a great time listening to himself talk as he gave the opening speech…he’s the only one that did IMHO.  He went on forever.  When he finally said it was time to stop talking and start playing, a polite round of applause started in my corner of the Amazon Room.

As poker goes, so does the field of players.  When heading down the hallway to the Pavilion Room, I ran into my Pahrump Dr. who had just busted from the Seniors Event.  Bumma-rillo!  Busting is never any fun.

I put my boy in the Friday 1:00pm, $200 buy-in deepstack at the Rio.  NG – short for NO GOOD!  Kings beat by A-K and the hand that sent him home about 3 hours into the tourney, Queens beat by A-Q. Some days are just like that.

I don’t know if I’m heading to the Rio today or not.  If I do, I believe it will just be me and my camera, not the computer and media row.
